My child just started attending this school. We are very impressed so far. Her teachers are excellent and the parents are very dedicated. My child loves learning... which started last year at Arundel and really has picked up at TL. The principal is very engaged and exhibits strong leadership. The kids are great! My child really has enjoyed meeting the kids from Heather who seem to be achievers too. A very diverse and nice blend of children at TL. Also, we love the music they are learning!!
Too Big, too loud, too chaotic! A tough environment for tough kids with alot of "cool" characters.
The best students, the best teachers! A winning environment for any child wanting to succeed.
I have two children, one who graduated from TL last year, and one who will be entering 7th grade in August. Despite TL having recently won a California Distiguished School award, I think the options available here for high achieving students is limited. The only acceleration kids can participate in is in math, but there is no honors English, or other honors classes. I realize this is all about funding (or the lack thereof) but I believe the San Carlos School District board is unwilling to make some tough decisions, like consolidating the two middle schools, to free up money that would otherwise be spent on physical plant and redundant administration. That said, TL has a top-notch music program, thanks to the San Carlos Educational Foundation, led by the wonderfully talented Joe Murphy. The kids love him and he sets a high bar for the kids to jump over.
Wonderful, wonderful environment. Very safe, very altruistic, very focused on quality learning.
Tierra Linda has a wonderful feel of community. The teachers seem involved and are easily accessible. Unfortunately, there is not much money for extra-curricular activities.
T.L. is a very well directed school, especialy for the fifth graders. They are just coming into middle school, and are the youngest on the T.L. campus. The transition is very smooth, I believe, and the fifth graders really enjoy being at the jr. high. The transmission of elementary school to middle school is the most important part of the middle school experience, as it determines the fifth grader's outlook on the school. I think that T.L. does a wonderful job of making the fifth graders welcome. ~Sara, seventh grade student
I'm a student at TL. I'd never want to go anywhere else- the fifth grade transition wasn't normal in the area, but i think that TL handled it very well- all our 5th graders are well-adjusted. Our extracurricular activities are completely awesome- everything imaginable is offered to us. Our principal this year is wonderful- Mr.S helps all the students, and knows each of us personally. all in all, i think that the TL middle school is well-handled and one of the best!- 7th grader at TL
