Benedict may have high favorable scores from many, unless you happen to have any 'special needs' children in Benedict. From my perspective as a grandparent, Benedict does not do a very good job with 'special needs' children - especially ones with Aspergers Syndrome (part of Autism) who are normally intelligent but with many of Autism symtoms.
My children both attend Benedict and it is a wonderful school primarly because they have been blessed to have a good start in first grade by a terrific teacher who also had older children that previously attended Benedict. She challenges the students and takes personal pride in their achievements and learning. We have never seen nor plan to ever see a teacher as dedicated as her. The others are good too. The principal makes wacky decisions about combos so stay away from those.
My children have been at TB for 1st through 4th grades. IMHO, it all depends on the teacher you get. I did not like the combo classes, especially if your kid is in the older grade. Out of 7 teachers, we disliked the instruction of 2. The school itself is well rounded. Our son was bored out of his skull in math. He should have been sent on to GATE or AAA.
My oldest child will be entering the 4th grade and began kindergarden at Truman. My second grader as well. The teaching staff is fabulous and well experienced. The PTA is very involved and pays for a multitude of programs that keep the children challenges and enriched. The principal is wonderful and does an amazing job of representing the best interest of the children/staff and parents always. My overall rating of this school is an 'A'. We feel truly blessed to attend this wonderful school.
A wonderful school with teacher who understand a child an especially children with problems. We were foster parents for a child who went to Truman!!! They give her so much love and cinfidence - we could not believe it.
This school is only as good as the teacher you get . The principle is not sympathetic to the needs of specific children, and the class rooms are over crowded.
