Lutheran High School of San Diego has been a great fit for my alumni graduate. The academics posed a challenge for my daughter and she got into the college of her choice. The teachers are caring, professional and are willing to help the students out with any need. The Christian environment is felt throughout and we really appreciate the current administrator's ability to deal with students issues and not worry about the impact it will have on enrollment if he feels a student needs to leave. Keep doing what you're doing and we can't wait to see the first new building !

This school has moved three times in twenty years; I remember when they were down on Orange Avenue and were actually in San Diego, not the outskirts of Chula Vista. That place was a ghetto; students were assaulted in the park across the street during phys ed, an abandoned car was burned on the street during Christmas break. The school was tiny, about 100 students, so that hasn't changed. Pretty much this was a small public school with chapel on Wednesdays.

Lutheran High has been a great fit for our family. We have had one child graduate from LHS and one who is a senior this year. Leadership opportunities are easily available. The staff genuinely cares about the students and is very available. Visit the school, meet the staff, and decide for yourself.

This school provides opportunity for students to have more involvement with teachers due to student/teacher ratio. Students additionally are afforded opportunity to participate in extracurricular opportunites and are not turned away based on skill or ability. Teachers are available and friendly. Office staff are efficient and respond to parent and student inquiry quickly and efficiently.

I have never had a problem reaching any teacher. Student progress can be checked on grade link. I'm happy with the small size of the classes. The front office will always answer any question I have. I do wish they were already at their new site, unfortunately that will happen after my child graduates.

I have to say first that because this is a small school it may not be the best fit for every child. However my son has been very happy and successful at this school. I have found, unlike the two previous reviews, that the few times I have needed to contact a teacher, the response was very quick. The teachers appear to care a lot abouit the students. My son has been very involved in academics, athletics, fine arts, etc. like any school, the secret seems to be getting involved. My son is also blessed academically- and I was concerned thsat he would not be challenged at this school, but he has been esp. in science and math, and I feel the faculty work with the kids to help them achieve their full potential. It may not have all the newest bells and whistles, but Lutheran has a solid community feeling

Quality of teaching staff is questionable. Teachers are not available to speak with parents after school and do not respond to emails or phone calls at first request. I had to leave several messages before anyone answered my questions.

School lacks communication skills. School relys too heavily on students to communicate to parents about school actvities and student progress. Teachers not readily available for conferences.

Lutheran High School of San Diego is the greatest school for a child. Our son was in many public schools in San Diego before we enrolled him at Lutheran. He has excelled because of the great teachers, small class sizes, and overall quality of the school. 100 percent of the seniors go on to college and the SAT scores are routinely higher. The students have greater possibility of obtaining scholarships after attending Lutheran. I cannot say enough great things about Lutheran High. If you are looking for a great school for your child and want a quality education along with caring staff members and parent involvement then Lutheran is the place for you. I thank God everyday that my child has attended this school and because of their education and guidance will go on to be a great adult who has high values and strong convictions.
