As the Secretary at Crown Point Junior Music Academy, I am so fortunate to work at such a great school. Parent involvement and Volunteers are an essential part of what makes our school such a great success. I am thankful for the great staff, families, and students i work with everyday. If you are interested in a tour, call the school office and either myself, Cathy Calderon, our school clerk, Mauricio, or the principal will be happy to show you around.

We have moved out of the state and can no longer attend this school, but I had to let anyone who is interested in this school to go check it out. Almost everyday my 2 children tell me how much they miss their old school. They tell people who ask if they miss San Diego that they really miss Crown Point JMA, and then ask me when my kids ask when they can go back to their old school.

CPJMA rocks! Our family is going on our fourth year here and we are happy with the transformation the school has made in becoming a very unique music academy. The district board members must know a good thing when they see it as they keep funding our music program year after year. Our teachers and students have proven that music is doing wonders for test scores, enrollment and attendance. With 2011-2012 funding having been allocated to our school, I am very excited to see what new and exciting additions there will be to the music education experience our students are getting. My own child is very happy with her performance opportunities, afterschool music themed clubs, and especially because music is incorporated into every school day at CPJMA. Jennifer S.

To Jennifer S, So you know, funds have not been allocated to our school for music next year. We are all meeting at the District board meeting at 3pm on Tuesday to speak and on the 28th the Board of Education will vote. Currently, they wanna cut arts district wide. Hopefully you will consider joining us on Tuesday.

If you re looking for a school that really cares about the kids and fosters a love of learning, Crown Point JMA is the school for you! This bijou little gem is San Diego's best kept academic secret. The school is small the smallest in the district and feels like a private school. Due to the staff's enthusiasm and the small size, it only takes a week or so for everyone to know pretty much EVERY child in the school by sight. The teachers and staff are dedicated and caring. Serving Pre-K - 5, the school has a wonderful library, active and involved PTA, enthusiastic and proud student body and is a music magnet school, offering music education from Pre-K on, including free ongoing lessons in Suzuki method for violin. Principal Boone is doing a bang up job. Scores are soaring and we couldn't be happier with our daughter's school.

I'm sad to see the end of the year approaching as I have been so delighted to be a part of Crown Point Jr. Music Academy. This school has been such a blessing in our lives as we transitioned from out of state; I felt so welcomed and accepted by all the staff, especially my child's 2nd grade teacher! I think the education he is getting is outstanding and he is being challenged each and every day. He is looking forward to furthering his music education, too! I feel so lucky to be a part of this school as I hear there is a waiting list to get in now. I can't wait to see what next year brings at this wonderful place!

I have two preschool children enrolled (a 3 y.o. and a 4.5 y.o.) here and feel lucky to get in since there is a wait list now. My children love going to school. The teachers are warm and caring. My children are singing all the time and lately, my oldest draws musical notes and tells me he is composing a new song! The principle is wonderful and keeps parents informed. Great school and glad they changed it into an Magnet school this year. If you are considering this school, keep in mind it is a new magnet school so reviews older than Sept 2008 are from before they became a magnet school.

I can't wait to continue my child at Crown Point this coming fall! Especially now that they are Crown Point Junior Music Academy; what a wonderful addition to our neighborhood! I have never been disappointed in the quality of education my children have received at Crown Point and I look forward to seeing this school grow - it's fantastic!

Give this school another look. There are more programs than represented here, the leadership from the principal is excellent, and they are on the brink of becoming a Junior Music Acadamy. Many parents I spoke with feel this is a hidden gem and pass by several other schools to bring their children there. Get your info first hand from this school.

This is a very poor school. No funding for extra activities such as music and art.
