As a former student, I loved that school. I excelled there and the teachers were awesome. I had SO many more opportunities opened to me than I ever would have had at a regular High School. If I had known, I would've gone there sooner. I made awesome friends that i am still close with today. The CMC (City Middle College) program made me learn so much more about myself, and my classmates. The mantra that we memorized: "I can, I will, I must" is something I use in my everyday life. Thanks so much for everything Garfield! I'm going to make you proud.
Excellent school. My son is about to graduate from Garfield Oracle Program. I am so proud of him. The teachers are really great. They are available and they allow you to be involved with your child's education. My wife calls to see our son's status and his teacher is happy to share the information. The receptionist is very friendly too.
has helped my daughter out better than anyone she finished school a year earlier and finished with the best of grades she now has a 3.90 GPA.the teachers are wonderful.
I was a former student at Garfield enrolled in the Pregnant Minor Program, I later was enrolled in the regular day program there. The teachers, who are untraditional in their ways of teaching, are like none that I have ever seen in traditional schools. The opportunities that this school provides is unlike any other.
Garfield's low teacher to student ratio and it's partnerships with San Diego City College makes it a great school for students who need to learn in a small environment and want to pursue college.
Good school overall. Not bad teachers. MAde a lot of friends.
Garfield high School is a gem in its downtown area. The's school's genuine interest in its students is highly recommendable. They have a variety of programs that could fit any student's needs. They collaborate with San Diego City College which provides for a unique academic atmosphere and beneficial connections. Moreover, they have an ORACLE program, an independent study program that let's students enrolled work at a pace they're comfortable with. Many students are able to accelerate and graduate early through the program. The principal I knew, Ms. Joan Zeno, has retired, but I have been told that the new principal, Ms. Pickett, is an excellent addition to the faculty. You should seriously consider Garfield High School!
Garfield is a top-notch school is so many ways. The principal, Ms. Zeno was an excellent leader. She provided the spark in this school.
I thought the principal was a most effective and lively person. I think she created a wonderful atmostphere at the school. Students performed well under her leadership. They enjoyed school at Garfield when she became principal.
I love Garfield! I went to this school because I got pregnant when I was young, and they really helped a lot! They have a Pregnant Minor Program (PMP), and the teachers there are really great very understanding, and helpful. If I found out about this school earlier, and knew what it felt like to be at Garfield, I would've switched right away. This school also gave me a chance to finish one year early because the teachers believed in me and knew that I could do it. It also gave me a chance to spend more time with my son while doing homework at the same time. I'd recommend this school to anyone who needs to catch up, are pregnant, everybody! Thanks Garfield!
