The best school ever!! Great, caring teachers! My kids love their school and being a military family we move a lot, and Kumeyaay is the best school my kids ever went to. Great patent involvement and teachers supprt! Thank you Kumeyaay for making a difference!!!
This school has been a big disappointment. Lack of staff, cut backs, fill-in principals through out the year and poor student support for extra needs.
This school is the best from top to bottom. From the amazing office staff, teachers, and administration this school is dedicated to helping each child be the best they can be. One of the most important factors in making this school top notch is the families and community that support this school. The parents work very hard to ensure that whatever needs to be done to support the best possible education for their children is done. Kumeyaay has first class art, science, computer and music programs rivaling that of private schools without the cost or commute. We are so grateful that during these difficult economic times for the district that our children are in the Kumeyaay/DePortola school boundaries where we know they will continue to get an outstanding education.
Kumeyaay is a great school. Teachers are very committed to their jobs and that's shows schools academic performance. School have very active PTA, foundation and volunteer support.
I was very happy with the Spec Needs preschool program here.
Kumeyaay Elementary has been nothing short of a blessing for our two kids. Starting with our principal, Mr. Mosher, our amazing group of teachers, support staff, grounds crew, we have nothing but positives to share with those considering to enroll their student at Kumeyaay. Also noteworthy is the tremendous amount of parental support on campus, the extensive PTA & Foundation rosters...it's truly amazing to see all the names of volunteers to offer support to our school. Way to go Coyotes!!
Kumeyaay is a great elementary school. You will feel and see the involvement and concern of parents which positively affect not only their own kids but the school itself and other students. You will see that your donations go to meaningful results. It is like a private school and it is one of the major reasons why we truly wanted to stay in our community not to mention the fact that it has high API.
I'm very impressed with my child's 4th grade teacher (room 17). She knows the standards well, and treats each child with respect. Children in this room are challenged individually based on their needs. My daughter now has an amazing science and math vocabulary, and a love for both of these areas because of this teacher. Books read aloud to the class are high quality, and they make the children think while learning to love literature. This is an excellent school!
I've been impressed with the high-quality, solid teachers my child has had at Kumeyaay, and the science and music programs. The one criticism I have is that parents (usually mothers) are allowed to spend time volunteering inside the classroom while class is in session. Some of these parents end up acting as lobbyists for their own children with the aim of gaining special treatment, rather than out of altruism. Fortunately, my child's teacher doesn't permit parents to influence how she runs the class or gain favor, and I respect her tremedously for that. Teachers, not parents, should control the classrooms.
Very happy with just about all teachers and with the new principal. He seems to know every single kid by name. Third class teacher my son has this year (2007) in Room 19 is simply outstanding. Extracurricular activities are wonderful with wise fundrasing from parents, and the SAY program (afterschool) also verey very good. My second son will be attending next year, no doubt.
