I love this school! The people are so kinda. The teachers are actually really helpful. I transferred here from Torrey Pines High School where it a rich area and people assume the school is well funded. That's not the case. Mira Mesa is better funded definitely. Only one bad thing is the campus is closed for lunch. I would recommend this school.

This school is just unorganized when it comes to office maintenance. I was being transferred into this school and I was not helped at all the first day of school. The office was in chaos and the staff was just rude. The attendance clerk is just rude and very sarcastic. The security staff just rides around in their golf carts not actually helping anyone. The system and campus is in chaos and possibly ruins. The biggest regret being transferred into this high school. The teachers are perfectly fine, the rest of school... Let's just say MMHS isn't the best.

This school offers a full variety of academic programs and resources including a long list of AP courses available beginning in 9th grade. Several languages are offered; my child is currently in Spanish 5-6. There are more than 16 sports and 53 clubs, plus band, ASB, theater, etc. The community is also very supportive of the school. My student is a sophmore and so far has been very successful both academically and socially. He plays sports, is in AP classes, does community service through the school and attends many of the additional activities they offer. This is a well rounded, diverse, high achieving, resource filled school.

This is an amazing school! It offers a large number of diverse activities that make individuals well rounded. They have obtained the perfect balance of academics and extra curricular thus producing successful, educated, well rounded people who simultaneously have friends and lives. Although this school is roughly 40 API points lower than Scripps Ranch High School, it is much more school-like and way less life-less. Not to mention the fact that all of the staff are caring individuals who care about the students' success.

his school is a horrible school. U should transfer them out immediately The teachers dont give the students any homework. Bad level of education and teachers give students 4.0 gpas end end up doing below basic education level resulting rejection from colleges. if you want your childeren to suceed take them to scripps ranch high school. the best highschoool in san diego. The best choice i ever made in my childs life. Its worth renting a place over there to get your children enrolled. Now one of them goes to harvard and the othere at UCLA. Marshall middle is a good school for middles school students. My son left in 10th grade just a week ago. Now he is saying that he is learning and his chemistry teacher is giving him so much to learn. He stays after school with UCSD profesers to learn about college as he is going to be the first one from our family to go.

Mira Mesa High School is an awesome School with a caring and committed staff. The diversity our School offers is unmatched and adds to the overall growth of our kids. If that isn't example enough in choosing Mira Mesa over Scripps the spelling and grammar errors offered by the supposed Scripps parent shows the education expectations between the two schools. Having had 2 kids graduate from MMHS and a junior in the SchooI now, I know that that type of spelling and grammar is considered an embarrassment and wouldn't be tolerated at our School. This parent (which I don't believe) could use some tutoring from some of our 3rd grade students in any one of the six awesome elementary Schools the community of Mira Mesa has to offer. The kid's and parent's that have been in and around MMHS know what we have and we are proud of all it has to offer. GO MARAUDERS!!!!

Outstanding school. Provides a variety of academic programs and extra-curricular activities. Staff and teachers have been supportive and responsive to parents and students. My Sr. and Fr. both have different learning styles and are on college prep path. I feel each are getting the appropriate levels of academic rigor to support their success in college. Top notch AP program- including Fine Arts. High pass rate for AP exams. My child will enter college with nearly a years worth of AP credit transferred. Extra-curricular activities are strongly encouraged and are supporting the development of the whole student. Both of my kids participate in sports and interest based activities. Overall very pleased with the school and what it is providing my family.

We love MMHS. The teachers and staff DO care; but they have high expectations from the students to give equal care and consideration to their education. Please recognize, it is difficult to teach a classroom of 20+ students when 5 or 6 of them continue to disrupt the process. There are plenty of activities, sports, clubs and after school activities. Any of our problems, questions or concerns were immediately addressed. I would recomment MMHS over Scripps anyday.

This school is AWESOME!!! My oldest graduated in 2008 and is now in her senior year at UCSD and off to law school after that. MMHS is a very diverse school that can handle the needs of the smart braniac AP and seminar kids but can also motivate and work with all learning levels. My 3 girls are at completely different learning levels and this school has been able to support and achieve success with all of them. The school is very diverse, has a lot of clubs, the sports team are awesome and there is a lot of parent involvement. The teachers are very dedicated and sincerely care about the students. The principal is also very involved , hands on kind of guy. I am very proud to be a MMHS parent, my youngest just started her freshman year and i know she will have a great learning experience throughout the next 4 years!

I couldn't wait until my girls moved from Challenger to MMHS. The teachers and admin are respectful and considerate of their individual needs. The amount of clubs, activities and sports teams is never-ending. I thank all personnel involved for the successes of my children. Their enthusiasm for adventures and learning would not be this great without your involvement and care. Thank you for a safe environment where our children can thrive.

This is by far the most diverse school I have attended, there are plenty of students for me to make friends with. The campus is HUGE! no joke we have a seven minute passing period, and so many sports it will make your head spin. But going to Mira Mesa sure does have some down sides. Lets start with the staff. Although our principle is the most school spirit inclined, and most motivational principle I have ever had, a big majority of the staff makes me sick to my stomach. You either get good teachers, or teachers that couldn't teach a rock how to just sit there, it is not only embarrassing but frustrating for me, the student.

I've been here for almost two years, and so far its been good. The time school starts is ridiculous. Ask any teen if they want to go at 7:15. I'm not too happy about that. The principle is awesome. Ms. Leonard is awesome. The block schedule is killer. Its unfair to go to first period for 130 minutes while every other class gets 120 and 30 minute lunches are not good. The amount of students filling out to buy food will make traffic jams that last longer than we are able to have the food to sit and eat. But on top of everything its a good school, some teachers are pretty awesome but some math teachers aren't .. hint hint. Overall I wouldn't prefer this class to anyone but its all based on how into school a deeply a student is willing to exceed in school.

Mira Mesa High is a great school. For teacher's that help their students to be the very best by allowing them the material to excel to the counselors we show they really care about your success. Our school is prideful regarding sports so if thats your thing, Mira Mesa high is the place for you!

This school is horrible. The administrators don't care about the good students and only care about the bad. The good students barely get any recognition for anything they've achieved and if they make a simple mistake, they are punished harshly, on the other hand, the troublemakers of the school seem to be let easy when making a mistake or causing trouble. I wish I attended another school.. but it's too late now.

This school is excellent and prepares students to succeed socially, academically and professionally. AI love the diversity( this is more than I can say for my previous school in Scripps Ranch) .All of my children received scholarships to private colleges and graduated with honors. This is... all around...one of the best high schools I have ever seen.

i am proud that my son and daughter went to this school. they both have 4.0's. my son is also a tight end and he has made many touchdowns and won many games. my daughter is a star player for the girls volleyball team. they both have scholarships to UCSD and they couldn't be happier with their experience there.

My daughter is a Senior at MMHS and we are so happy she went there. She has enjoyed the wonderful, caring teachers and has a close group of friends--all of them are heading to 4 year colleges with scholarships. We couldn't have asked for more!

My daughter is nearing the end of her sophmore year, she is in the seminar program and has taken a few AP courses. So far we love the school. Two english teachers in paticular, Mr. Thomas & Mr. Knapp have just been excellent in motivating and challenging my daughter to enjoy seminar english the most! The sports teams have been good to her. UCSD gets more students from MMHS than any other school in the city, what a great college to feed into. I see a lot of parent involvement, especially with the different sports/clubs/band. The principal has been getting involved with the community and the feeder middle schools to make sure incoming freshmen are well informed.

School is overcrowded and not nearly as academically inclined as you would wish for your child. Gang activity is very high. Bussing from intercity school closures really caused Mira Mesa high to plummet. Do not recommend, unless your only choice is inner city or logan heights schools, then it would be an improvement.

The school has great potential but some of the staff don't seem to have been hired carefully. As a student I have come across several teachers that obviously don't know what they are doing. Even with honors classes, I have had classes that were too easy and an easy 'A' because the teacher was lazy. There are however many wonderful teachers and staff I have come across but all in all this school has made me wish I was rich and could attend another one.

My daughter attends MMHS. What a super school. There are so many extracurricular activities available. The kids are polite and helpful. My student loves her teachers. The school is well run by the Principal and there's close attention to safety and discipline issues including any gang activity. It's a pretty tight ship with kids excelling as a result. I've been told that MMHS has the highest rate of college attendance by graduates of any San Diego high school. I am not surprized excellence is expected from teachers and kids alike.

I dont know if the staff, from the principal on down, is not seeing what I see when I drop off my kids at school everyday...It is scary to see and hear how big the gangs are at the school....Does anyone see this, does anyone see what goes on in the bathrooms....My kids use the bathroom and drugs are being done in then, andd no security around to catch them, grant it drugs are everywhere in our world...But why not take some more precaution and really see what is goin on to improve the high school...Mira Mesa is not a bad school, just wake up and see what is truly going on. Hopefully the new principal will see this and make things happen. Worry about cleaning out the bad, then the good will follow.

I have 2 sons at Mira Mesa High. I agree with the other parent that indicates we need more parents involvement at sporting events. If it is not football or basketball there is little or no parents at events. I see visiting schools with more parents than we do at a home track meet. We had a very good track team this year but you would never know by the turn out. I almost moved my son after his freshman year because of the lack of parent participation. I kept him at the school because I think it is one of the best schools in San Diego. That is indicated by test results each year. My son is in his Junior year and he indicates his class'05 has less funds than any other class for graduation. I hope the parents of the class of 2005 get more involved over the next few months.

I have had three children attend this school, and each of them have enjoyed their stay there very much. I would have to say that this is one of the best schools in the San Diego School District. I would recommend this school to anyone who was inquiring about a school.

My daughter just graduated from Mira Mesa High School c/o 2003. I'm very glad she went to this school because there were excellent programs for her to get involved with. The teachers are very helpful and are very experienced. The school is very clean and the safety and supervision is great. The only complaint she had was the cafeteria food. She said the variety of foods was very small and the prices kept going up. The students score very high on their school wide tests. Mira Mesa also has many great teams and sports that students can participate in. Overall Mira Mesa High School is a great school.

I am a parent who also works at the school so I have access where most do not. The students at Mira Mesa High have a great deal of potential. Unfortunately, the principal lacks the skills to coach her faculty to tap student ability. She talks the talk (test scores and curriculum programs) but she doesn't walk the walk (observe teaching and coach teachers). I am looking forward to observing the new principal.

My daughter is a senior (class of '04). All in all, I see a school with dedicated teachers and administrators. My daughter and her friends have commented about how they feel unsafe walking in the halls at times. There is minimal participation by the parents, and there are just a few parents that seem to do everything. Mrs. Kwvalic (sp) is one parent that cares, and her actions in school reflect the involvement we used to see in the '60s by parents like mine. Why don't I participate? The communication about meetings and such is often mailed after the event. Better and more timely communication is needed. Emphasis on timely. The special education department is excellent. Mr. Cullinan is particularly wonderful with these children, and shows compassion and a sense of total understanding. He is an awesome staff member, and takes his time to make sure things are handled appropriately. The counseling and vice principals are wonderful, and show a care and concern for the students. They are honest and forthright, and don't 'pussyfoot' around a problem. All in all, I am glad my daughter went to Mira Mesa High, because of the sepcial ed program.
