Yes, yes. Del Mar/Carmel Valley is a good school district, but keep in mind the pressure to "keep up with the Joneses." There is pressure on the kids and the parents. If you can survive that without being an outcast AND you plan on buying your kid their first car, and it better be new or a classic sports car, for their 16th birthday, then by all means, get your kids to Del Mar/Carmel Valley. I by no means mean to say that kids shouldn't be given the best of the best, but sometimes that means more in terms of parental involvement and a solid work ethic rather than kids who are given everything just because. Maybe this economy is giving some of these families a good dose of reality. Granted this is a generalization, but not untrue.

It is not really the districts that are good. It's more like the schools. All the districts are facing massive budget crisis. It all falls on each individual school. My child is part of San Diego Unified School District and the school she is now at is EXCELLENT!! It gets donations from parents and the community but there are other schools in the district that I would NEVER send her to. So, instead of looking at the districts, I'd look at individual schools.
