my child just started this school and i must say that i am dissapointed in the teacher that he got. im not sure and hope that all teachers are not like this one in particular and that they are more organized. as far as the school goes they have all this staff just standing around which i think should be outside directing the parents not to cut in line when picking up children or not to park in areas that they are not suppose to. as for the principal i dont see much involvement and when i see her shes never greeted the parents that are in the hall ways to pick up their children. i guess this is just a school where staff needs to learn to communicate and if they dont know how! i wonder what they are teaching the students in class.
You might think this is the best school in city but it's really horrible. They gave too much homework to students that don't even teach them anything. Having homework isn't bad, but if students don't learn anything from it, what is the point of having any. Students are not responsible for themselves, usually the staff is picking up the messes that the students leave behind. The students also think that they have the right to do whatever they want without any consequences. The school teachers are usually absent and there are always substituted teachers taking care of the students. The buildings are not safe because they are not well built. They don't have one on one sessions for the mentally disabled. The only reason why many parent think it's a great school is because they got a California Distinguished Schools Award in 1995 and the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award in 1996. The thing is that happen 16 and 15 years ago and they haven't gotten an award since. That is saying something.
In this particular community, this school is absolutely the best choice for any parent or student who wants a safe and caring community and an education that will truly prepare you for college. It is not the right school for anyone who wants to skate through school for the piece of paper in hopes of getting an okay job. It is not the right school for any student who wants to just fade into the crowd. The support at Vaughn will not let you fall through the cracks.
If you actually look at the schools test scores over the last decade, you will see that the scores (API) have gone up ever year. The school has a good balance of new and veteran teachers that make up a solid teaching core. Vaughn has met its goals every year and is only getting stronger
This school is not a very great school since the students that attend it dont have a voice and cant do much about it. I am currently attending this school and all i have to say is that i want to transfer out of this school.we are required to take classes after school. in fact we cant even pick which class we want, the administrators assign to us.
Wow! I just attended the Parent Appreciation night where they included a college information fair. There were people from colleges like UCLA, USC, Santa Monica Glendale, CSUN and many more. Even though my kids are in elementary school now I know that Vaughn will help them get to college. They are very dedicated and very focused on student achievement. Great teachers and administration. Really know their students!
I attended several special events that highlighted student achievement. this school is certainly puts their students first. I was suprised to see so many teachers working late, talking about stratigies to use to help teach and everyone was extremely friendly. There was a high parent turn out at each event i attended, and parents were actually talking and laughing with teachers. They had real realtionships to support students. The administrators blended in with staff and not until i was introduced did i realize who was an administrator. The administration truly values their staff and unlike other district schools there is a no feelings of a 'us' and 'them'. I encourage any one to visit this school.
Vaughn was good school several years ago...but since then their scores has gone down which classifies the school as a Program Improvement school. This situation now qualifies parents to get tutoring (outside help) paid by the school and also legally allows them to take thier school out to other performing schools. Vaughn has been failing my child for the past couple of years now and I am dissapointed with the administrators and teachers. You people are all promises!
Vaughn is an excellent school. I love the involvement and the dedication that the teachers have in teaching. I am a single mom of four girls and to me it's very important to have great role models and that's what I have found at Vaughn. Thank you to all the teachers and staff for doing such a great job.
Excellent school. Best in the valley from pre-k to high school.
