The children from this school are active in the broader community volunteering and giving back. This is a community building school. I see the students giving back to my neighborhood. The children visibly love their school. That speaks a lot for the type of school this is. Glad to be a neighbor.

This is a one of a kind school. This school is dedicated to building the whole child; mind, soul, and body. I'd never consider working at another school. The children here are exposed to the ancient and sure foundations of a classical and Christian civilization. The children learn not to be slaves of the present but inheritors of a great heritage.

We found this school after leaving 2 previous private school. My family found that there is no better academics and qualified teacher than the ones at St. John's. This school is truely like a second family that has my childs best interest at heart.

I like St.John s Orthodox Academy as a parent because this school has the followings: Orthodox religious instruction. Off-site opportunities for educational and cultural enrichment such as field trips to museums and the theatre. Hot lunches, snacks Small classes and teachers personal attention to my kids The opportunity for middle and high school-level students learn French and Latin languages and write, direct, and produce a student film in Latin that is screened for the enjoyment of parents during our Open House event. A Yahoo! Group, where school officials share school news and other information of interest with us, such as cultural events, school photos, and information regarding the latest research on child development. A twice yearly I Know contest for kids in 4th 7th grades Chaperoned after-school events (such as parties and games) for older students.

Both my kids go to St.John's Orthodox Academy School. It's a small private school that provides students with a healthy, warm environment to foster the academic and spiritual growth of our kids. The focus in this school is on Orthodox education and religious emphasis. Small class size enables the well-qualified, enthusiastic teachers to provide one-on-one personal attention to students on instructions and class assignments. Aslo, we have healthy snacks and hot lunches everday. This school inlcudes English-only/Russian-speaking students. All subjects are in English and we have a Russian subject as a plus where our kids learn how to read and write in Russian. Students from our school consistently score high in state examinations and exceed state averages in academic accomplishment. The school administration works closely with parents to resolve disciplinary and academic issues. My daughter (5th grade) and my son (1st grade) are very happy in this school.

Great school, terrific education, teachers and administration really do care and help children to succeed. This is the place where understanding and love comes first. Friends of ours had unexpected difficult financial situation closer to the end of school year and decided to withdraw their daughter from school; administration let the child to finish school year at no cost to minimize the stress. What is also important is that the school year is scheduled with respect of Orthodox Christian calendar, which is a huge help in our busy life.

St. John's of S.F. Orthodox Academy is a unique school for kids from Eastern Orthodox families. Our daughter came to this school in 4th grade soon after we moved to US from Russia. Family atmosphere and personal attention helped her to adjust and progress from no English to a National Merit Commended Student. While keeping tuition low they are able to provide highly skilled teachers who work hard to bring out the best in each child. Now with my son being in first grade I look forward for more years to come in this school. Thank you St. John of S.F. Orthodox Academy for giving my children the excellent education while scheduling school's life around Orthodox feast days and services.

Let the facts speak for themselves. One of the least expensive private schools, that gives a high quality education. Full time administrator that works for free! Why? For the love of it. Teachers that are retired doctors and engineers who reap excitement and success in the subjects that are 'boring' and 'hard.' A curriculum that is at least a year ahead of the norm. Standardized test scores that will amaze you. Getting into college is no problem. Hot lunches prepared from scratch. One negative-only about five percent of parents show up for meetings and participate in fund raisers.

The teachers staff somewhat is weak. The administration is very poor. All they want is your money.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
