This is a great school. My student feels safe and likes the school a lot. I am happy my child goes here. The teachers are very helpful. This is like a private school.
Gateway is a great school and has a good college preparatory program ,however, my only concern is that they do not have a PE Class and I have to look for a gym to put my kid so she will be able to fulfill the hours needed for PE for graduation. They have a good art classes and has encouraged my daughter to take art classes at the academy of arts for high school students. I just hope that next year they will be able to add some PE classes some I would not be paying gym fees which is so expensive. Overall, it is a great school, teachers are approachable and helpful to their students.
Gateway is an amazing institution, combining the best of a caring community, talented and dedicated leadership, faculty and staff, and an involved parent body. The school provides a strong college prep program, with honors and AP courses. Despite the limitations of its small size (440 students), it is able to provide extras that are not available in many other public schools such as small average class size (23), a comprehensive visual arts program, an excellent college counseling program, and competitive sports programs for boys and girls. It provides an amazing support system for all students with its learning center tutoring program. Our oldest child was in the very first Gateway class and first graduating class, and now our second is a Senior. This is a school that truly welcomes and thrives on parent involvement. We are proud of the schools achievements and grateful to be a part of it.
My daughter is in 9th grade, I see how much she likes school, there is lots of homework everyday, she enjoys her classes and teachers, I see that she is learning a lot, I had a meeting with a couple of her teachers last year and I liked what I heard about the program for each class, the only thing I do not like is the way the school looks, it needs lots of repairs. Overall the school is a great institution and I am glad my daughter has the opportunity to attend, I am sure she will have lots of chances to succeed in her future academically and further studies.
Gateway is so terrible! my child got sent there and he came home telling me he was offered drugs at lunch. i was outraged ! the school has to do something about this or it will get out of control.
GWHS prepares students to take responsibility for their own learning, helping each to adjust to learning differences. This is especially helpful for students with learning disabilities, who need to know how and when to ask for assitance to meet their own learning style. My daughter was able to organize her work, learn note-taking habits that will apply through college, ask questions, seek out help when she needed it. These skills kept her from lagging behind.
