I think others should come to Leadership. I like the way everyone gets along here and how its like a big family here. We could get a mascot costume.
I am a junior at LeaderShip High School, my experience here at LHS has shaped me in many diffrent ways and helped me grow as a student. When I first came to this school as a freshman I was nervous that I wasn't going to succed. But with the assistance from teachers and peers I noticed that they believe in me and I could succed in this school. I hope that every one that goes here after me have the same experience.
The students treat each other like family and support each other to do their best in their academic work. They teachers care about their students and make sure they're getting good grades.
Leadership has helped me improve my reading and writing skills even though I have dyslexia. LHS has also helped me by giving me many oppertunities to join clubs and other activities.
I have two sons attending Leadership. My youngest is on the Autism spectrum and my oldest is a senior. Both have received the benefits of having a supportive and dedicated staff. I am grateful for the Resource Team and for our advisors. My senior is looking forward to the college application process and my youngest is feeling like he is in a space that really understands his needs as a learner. Leader What? Leadership!
I am a parent at Leadership High for the second year and we love it. My son has been in private school all his school age years and this was his first year in a public and we couldn't be happier. He is thriving and safe and the staff is nothing short of GREAT!! When we transferred here from a big catholic school at the end of his sophomore year, I was concerned about the transition for him. The staff and student body were welcoming and after his 2nd week here he said he felt like he had been there since freshman year. This is an amazingly nurturing environment and I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a great education for their high school age students!
I am current parent of Leadership High school. I have two children who attend this school. I very happy with the dedication of the teachers and the staff. As a current parent one of the things that stand out for me is that it's a small school and the staff are very dedicated in helping our children succeed! Since we have been there we have been also very happy the intervention and support my daugther has been receiving in regards to her IEP needs. Any parent that has a child with a learning disability will appreciate what I am saying !!!! with this being said I am a proud LEADERSHIP MOM!!!
Leadership High School provides their student's the tools they will use past their high school years, and into their adult lives. They allow their students to discover themselves and therefore they create confident and responsible individuals. They teach their students that dreams do come true with hard work and perseverance. The teachers at Leadership take the time to get to know every single student in their school, and make sure to stay connected with them not only during school hours, but are available at any time. They genuinely care about the success of each student. It is said that it takes a village to raise a child, and the Leadership's teachers are a true example of that.
My son Came to Leadership last January as a transfer student after a very trying fall semester. Leadership has been a godsend to my child and my family. The staff, teachers and administration have created a safe place for him to learn. The curriculum is rigorous and the school provides great opportunities for the children. My son went to Hawaii with his advisory and presented on"decolonizing methodoligies" to a sister school. His advisory is THE BOMB and this experience has made him want to change the world. Caring adults, empowering curriculum, and adults who really care about him? I wish I could give it a ten.
My son goes to Leadership High School and he has been going to Charter for a number of years and I am very proud of the amazing education that my son is receiving the best education ever. The classes are not as big and i think leadership is one of the best schools that I know. I have been on the parent association for a number of years and I know for a fact that my son is receiving the best education at one of the best charter school....
I am a community member completely disgusted by this school's claim of "15 years of success". Nothing is further from the truth. In fact, in 2011 the California Charter Schools Association called for the non-renewal of Leadership's charter as a result of their continued and chronic academic underperformance (look at their API score and you'll see why). SFUSD renewed this school's charter in spite of the strong recommendation for closure and in complete disregard of Leadership's ongoing failure to educate their students. Further proof that the charter movement is about politics, influence and money. With this ruling and others that supported failing but politically connected charter schools, SFUSD has demonstrated that it is unfit to guard the interests of the children and communities they claim to serve. SHAME.
We are a good school doing our best to teach inner-city students who come from diverse, and most often poor socioeconomic backgrounds. We strive for diversity to be understood and to connect as a family when teaching across such differences.
I believe people who rate this school 4 maybe because of the strict teachers. My daughter say that is hard, every subjects in her junior year was complicated. This is what makes you to become a leader and take responsibility.
If I compare what I've learned to that of what my friends learned in a public school, you can clearly see that when it comes to respecting the community and preparing for a positive change in the world, I had a head start. Leadership has taught me qualities that public schools wouldn't have time to. The bonds between my Advisor and I will be one I will take to the grave.
My daughter was a shy closed off student before she came to this school. She opened up to every this school had to offered.I believe this school rating of 4 is not fair...
I am a former student of this Legendary school. I feel that this school has really taught me how to be a better person in life with people and especially in my community. This school as shown me love and expects all of us as students and former students to show the world love and make it a better place. This school got many of our students into UC's including myself. Just about everybody in my class of 2007 went on to graduate minus 5 or less people. The graduates and alumni of this school become the new young and inspiring emerging leaders the world has been waiting to see from our young people. I will make change in the world to make it better. I thank God for Leadership high school.
I love Leadership school, it was the most satisfying experience for my daughter, the attention by the teacher and the whole staff made it a safe and caring enviorment. she exceled in all her classes due to the care and involment of the teachers, they would let me know if she needed attention to any of her classes, no time to fool around, the staff is always ready to help and keep the kids safe, this way, they can concentrate in their curriculum and be prepared for what is outside waiting for them to make a very successful future. thanks to all the staff at the school, I am glad we had the sense to changed school where I knew she was going to be okay and do well.
Being a small school, Leadership really has been able to positively impact these students. The students really get the attention they need to succeed, the faculty is able to personalize each student s education plan and we are given the opportunity to build a really strong community. I truly appreciate the lessons of the School Wide Outcomes (SWOs) because it exposes the students to skills that are essential for success. Though very different in every way, my kids are taught the responsibility and critical thinking skills necessary for whatever path they choose after high school. I already have one LHS graduate and I am confident is saying that he was more focused and prepared for college than some of his peers that attended private high schools. This is a result of the personalization, SWO s, and community support that LHS is able to offer. See for yourself: www.leadershiphigh.org
LHS provides all students with a program that meets UC and CSU requirements by the time they graduate. LHS turns out conscientious students who care about their community, who are critical thinkers, and who are extremely comfortable speaking in front of groups. My daughter from class of 07' is now a SFSU fresmen, who is doing well because of the preparation she received at LHS. My son is a senior at LHS now, and both I and my husband are very happy with the education they received at LHS.
It is true that Leadership has an atypical curriculum. I do not feel that the math or English classes were weak in comparision with other high school classes. I would like to address the leadership classes that the other poster felt was useless. My stepdaughter is infinitely more comfortable speaking in front of groups than I have seen from most other teenagers. This is a direct result of the leadership classes and is no small skill.
