Depends on the students family lifestyle. The school does emphasize these. Home education is also important.

Academically they hire good teachers, this school offers well rounded education, including CYO sports, visual art, choir and strings music. The afterschool program is run separately by another organization. They offer hiphop and yoga afterschool. The lunch program is also run separate. The school administration office does not offer good communication and is not well structured. This school is predominantly for very-very low income households, which works well if you are not able to afford a minimal private education and will get financial assistance. The overall school atmosphere is not warm or helpfully informative. The majority of the parents are not friendly or well mannered. Definitely a social economic disparity demographicly. If you do want children to learn catholic theology this is a good religious education.

This school takes a holistic to education by not only developing body and spirit as well as the mind. Classwork is rigorous and academic standards are high. Physical Education places emphasis on the physical. And students are taught that God loves each and every one of them and challenged to ask themselves what Christ would would in their everyday situations. School sports include basketball, soccer and volleyball. Violin classes are offered and there is even a chess club. But most important of all, friendships are developed across all lines of the human fabric. I can't imagine sending my kid anywhere else.

My daughters attend Mission Dolores and they love going to school every day. The school is one big family. Thanks to the teachers at Mission Dolores, my oldest daughter knows that she can accomplish any goal in life if she works hard enough. There's a group of parents very committed to not just helping their children but also their children's classmates. They have a great sports program, choir, and a decatlon team.

The kindergarten teacher is wonderful. Kids are writing their own book reports by the end of the year! Class size does not exceed 23 kids and there are two teachers aides.

Highly Reccomended. The caring teachers and staff provide a welcoming environment for students. The parent community is very active in schoool events and fundraising. The curriculum is academically challenging. And there is a well utilized sports program. Our family was very happy at MD. Go Tigers!
