Academic programs are poor, and lack good teachers. Music, art, and sport programs were previously well-funded and hence common, but has now been diminished to a measly 'orchestra', 'choir', and 'sports teams'. The sports teams are poor and lack good leadership. Parent involvement is common, and quite good, however. Looks like the parents are more motivated than the staff itself.
I have two kids that goes to this school, and I see improvements they have made to the school, but I feel that more funding needs to be put back into improving the environment of the school and to offer a better school environment for the students. The parents do not have a voice and no PTA.
I've sent two of my three children here. (I would also send my third but we are moving to So. CA). I love the immersion portion of this school. In preschool, they are taught half of the day in English and half the day in Chinese. We do not speak Chinese at home but our children still learned and benefited. It made learning French a breeze for our oldest who is now a Freshman in high school. The teachers really love the kids and are very supportive. We will really miss this school.
My parents still believe that Cornerstone was a great school to go to, mainly because it's Chinese. The environment is not realistic of the real world situation your children will encounter. The only redeeming quality about it, for Chinese parents, is that the student population is mostly Chinese. Even though there is this belief amoung Asian parents that it's better to put their child in an environment full of children who share the same ethnic heritage, academics still depend on each child's work ethic and not on whether the school is private, exclusive, and strict. I recommend you to save your money for your child's college fund.
Cornerstone is a school on the rise. It has been an excellent middle school for a couple of decades. Now the high school is in the fifth year and it's improving rapidly.
Good private Christian school. Good in academics and teaching students moral and discipline.
Cornerstone is a great school. The children are not only encouraged to do well in school but are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports and church. Overall, teachers are great although some seem a little to0 young. The curriculum is solid. My child really enjoys being at school.
It is a great school. My kid has developed her own pride and self confidence in the course of study and participation in the extracurricular activities. The students feel to be loved and cared by the teachers and teaching staffs and that mean most to them.
Cornerstone is a great academic school to go to, but that isn't the reason why it is great. The reason why it is great is that the teachers and students there don't care if you are smart or not. Everyone there helps make you feel at home and brings you closer and closer to Christ!
I'm a graduate of Cornerstone's Middle School, and I loved my time there. The teachers weren't hard to talk to. The teachers could relate to us, and we were able to communicate better than students and teachers usually do.
Cornerstone Academy has been expanding over the years a little too fast; therefore, the teaching quality of the teachers has gone down.
My daughter was a valedictorian of the first commencement of Cornerstone Academy High School College Preparatory and she will attend UC Davis this fall. I believe that great school creates great students. The teachers are very kind and supportive and I truly appreciate them from the bottom of my heart.
