I recently graduated from Adda Clevenger and it was the most wonderful school I could have asked to go to. I would like to address some of the past reviews. The kids don't like Adda because the academics are weak, I'm currently taking all honors and getting decent grades. Also who cares how much technology they have, studies have shown it damages your brain. Adda Clevenger is such an incredible school that I would cried for more than I care to say. At Adda you will also get into the high school that you want, whether it is the best school in the city or not. My high school was my top choice. To add to that my sibling, who also went to Adda, is now going to one of the best colleges in the country. Also Adda may not have the biggest influence on sports, but that is because it's a performing arts school. Honestly if you send your kid to a performing arts school do you really expect them to be playing soccer every day. For the record in PE we do sports, and for the past three years I'd gone there I had PE every day; plus dance. The school has also been said to "not foster creativity." That is completely off. There are entire classes dedicated to creativity. Adda is an amazing school.
I am a student at Adda Clevenger and have been for 8 years now. It is absolutely amazing and I cannot express how grateful I am for everything that I have learned and experienced. Even with the "long" school day I find myself coming in early and staying late whenever I can. The atmosphere is the most supportive and fun one I've ever been in and the teachers are absolutely incredible. I love Adda, and strongly encourage any parent looking for a school to send their child(ren) to, to consider it.
My son attended Adda Clevenger for a brief period. Three years later we still talk about the positive impression his time there made on him. This school is a rare place. Magical.
Let me get this straight , the person who posted before me has no idea what their talking about. I am a student at Adda clevenger, and for nearly 6 years i have thrived with amazing math, english, drama, science , speech.... classes the list goes on and on. For one Adda gives kids a very structured system with small classes (witch most kids prefer) and customized classes so your child can learn were he/she feels comfortable. About homework lower grades do not recieve little to no homework because of the long hours were as older grades slowly increase homework so you don't get overwhelmed. The whole Adda experience is really fun for kids new expirences will excite them and they will never get bored. I love Adda and everyone in it and wouldn't change for anything
Adda Clevenger is a school that all kids love, why because the academics are extremely weak, there is absolutely no structure in most classes and no set curriculum. The kids also love it here because the teachers don't give out a lot of homework. The English and Math classes are average but the science and history courses are a disaster. Adda Clevenger emphasizes on the Performing Arts; currently they do three stage producductions every year plus they have two concerts, this takes up a TON of time. This school operates the old- fashioned way, there are no electronics besides televisions. Also the playground is a mess, it is a parking lot which is used for parking. Although apon graduating the school the kids develop self confidence through programs such as Speech and Acting which are in my opinion some good programs offered.
My daughter has been thriving at AC for nearly 5 years...she is gifted but achievement well above grade-level which would not occur if she was not exposed to the material...sure others in her class may not be gifted, but they band together and learn at an appropriate pace. AC is a school with fabulous diversity on all fronts...there is no financial aid or fundraising, yet tuition is more affordable than most while maintaining an environment that educates the whole child! These kids leave with tremendous confidence, focus and a love of learning.
AC's teachers handled our bright, very high-energy, very young son's unexpected transition from preschool to K with lots of love and skill. The busy, stimulating days are great for him, and the schedule is great for us working parents. Would like a nicer playground and more parent-teacher communication.
I am a student in Adda Clevenger. I am in 7th grade, getting ready to graduate. Adda has gotten me prepared so well that i am completely confident when it comes to the SSAT's. Our school is not only strong in the arts but in the mathematics and english and everything! There are no problems. I can honestly say that i can not think of a better school to attend that Adda Clevenger
Adda Clevenger is a magical school where the students are engaged in true learning. My child has attended the school for the past six years, and she has blossumed academically, socially and in the arts. She is now preparing for high school. Her SSAT scores were excellent, and she has approached the entire application process with joy. Her classmates are also highly motivated, and they encourage one another which is so great to see. Last year's graduating class went to an array of top schools and I'm certain that this year's class will also do the same. My husband and I love Adda Clevenger!
I have found the school to be better and worse than I expected. Better in that my daughter's curiosity and intelligence are being put to better than good use. Even Kindergartners attend a full day of classes, with alternating schedules (M/W/F and T/Th), allowing my very smart, very high energy child a change of teacher/subject/approach every 45min. Children get a full academic schedule as well as choir, music, art, dance, gymnastics. As a working parent, it is everything I hoped for and more. The only negative thing is that the school is run by it's visionary founder, and she is a genius, but not a school administrator. Expect spotty communication to parents. If, like me, you are a parent who wants to be involved in your child's school, you need to initiate that involvement. I am very active and very confident, but the first months were admittedly frustrating.
