My son is finishing his freshman year at DCP. The leadership is very strong, there was a principal change so ignore comment below! I have found the staff to be fully supportive of all kids and families. Lack of ethnic diversity is the only aspect that could be improved.

This is a great school,great students and staff,my only doubt is the principal.I was going to enroll my daughter in the school but the principal didn't attend our appointment.So i went to the school the next day and scheduled another appointment which he also did not attend.He also stated that he had FORGOTEN about my appointment.So my daughter is going to another school now.I really wish he would give my daughter a chance.

Downtown College Prep has been a life saver for my family. DCP transformed our daughter from a lost and misguided student into a college ready positive member of society and a successful college student. College readiness is not a news letter sent home in the second semester of their senior year. It is an ongoing project that includes the students, teachers, guidance counselors and me as a parent. My daughter is currently thriving in college, my younger son is in his second year (sophomore) at DCP, my niece is in her third year (senior) and my youngest is in his second year as a 7th grader at DCP s newest campus in Alviso. With tears I tell my story to any parent who wants to know if this school is right for their child.

I am a student at DCP and the teachers that this school has are the most helpful and caring that i have ever had and seen. The class size is small and all of the teachers are willing to give extra help, even before and after school. It is not only a school, but it is also a strong community

I'm a curent student at DCP. I really enjoy the sense of community at this shcool. Since this school is small you really get to know your teachers and they really look out for you. Some people might say that this school is not challenging enough but there wrong. Freshmen year is the easiest year but thats because the school is trying to get everyone at the same accadenic level. Also many people complain about the exta curiculam classes but if theres not a class or club you want to take the administration encourage you to find more people interested to start the club. I believe that every person on the staff and eventually all the students believe and encourage the dream of sending each student to a 4 year university.

This school might not be the best school around, but my student was failing until she started attending this school. She made the Dean's List her first semester there and continues to do well. Her last school offered many extracurricular activities which occupied a lot of study time. My level of parent involvement is much more encouraged and appreciated at this school. My student is college bound. Because this is a smaller high school, the staff is better able to fulfill each student's needs.

I went to this school for a short time because I transferred out. I'm generally a good student and have high test scores and found this school very disappointing. It did not challenge me in the least. The administration is lacking. Run by former teachers, they have no idea how to run a school, and it shows. There is also no music program, one art class and about three sports. All of which students do not take seriously. As for the 'college prep' part, most students are not college bound. The discipline often backfires. They have 'homework checkers' which is a paper that gets signed every time a student misses homework but this only causes frenzied cheating at all hours. Overall, it does not meet expectations.

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11.
