Evergreen Valley High School is, in my opinion, a pretty good school. Every one of my daughter's teachers are highly qualified, and the administration is helpful and almost always available to answer my questions.
Evergreen High School should not deserve the good ratings that it has right now. My child goes to Evergreen Valley High School and she hates it. The school is over crowded. It takes a while for her to get lunch.
Quality of academic programs cannot be rated as the school is fairly new. There are not many extracurricular activities offered for students as htry outs are limited and a lot of the students that get selected are friends or acquantansies of players or teachers. Full parent involvement has not being fully established as it is a fairly new school
Excellet Music Program! Academic programs are good with a wide variety of AP classes. Teachers seem highly competent.
I was a part of a program entitled Accel Middle College. This middle college program is in conjuction with Evergreen High School and the East Side Union High School District. It serves 11-12th grade. Students attend college classes in the AM and high school courses in the afternoon. Classes are located at Evergreen College. This program allows college bound students to gain dual units and be prepared for college. Because high school students are taking college classes, the only cost are books and some course materials. There is a wide array of classes that one may take. The college professors are challenging, but good. One needs to be self disciplined to make this program work for them.
EVHS has potential to become one of the top public high schools in the Bay Area. I check my son's course work, and his progress; I also monitor the activities of the school, I think so far so good. I especially like the current Principal, he is energetic and very informative, EVHS as a young school do need this kind of leadership. The diversities of students in this school provides an very rich environment for teenagers to grow, and parent involvement is very good. With the growth of the population, quality education, and good administrative work from the Principal, I have no doubt EVHS will grow into a very good high school.
EVHS is still a very young school, and I hope it can keep up its current progress. As far as I can tell, some of the teaches are really good, but of course there are a few that are not up to standard, and I hope the school can address to that, basically listen to the students. I also think the school is kind of expanding very fast, in just 3 years, it is now has over 2100 students, but the principal is very good, and I do hope he can be the principal for a long time. Overall I am satisfy with the school, and I do see it has very good potential.
Large class sizes which lead to very little individual attention for each student. Also the administration is very disorganized and it takes going through a lot of processes to get anything done. The teachers are mostly new with little experience.
I really think if you want your kids to get a good education, EVHS is the place for them to be. Excellent school!
Student Review EV isn't as good as it used to be. The laptop program ended because of lack of money. The principals were rotated and now EV is discussing Common Dress [which i am aganist] and reregistering because the whole school is overcrowded. The school is designed for 1500 students. But is already at 1497 students and does not have any seniors yet. So this school has fallen from its glitz and glamor and has become an overcrowded school with no money.
I got to this brand new high school in San Jose, California. There is a long line of students wanting to get into this school and I got in. This school issues laptops to each student every year; they collect them when school ends. The laptops help the students learn in a 'new' environment. Students learn to use computers, do projects on them, and use them as resources for education. Evergreen Valley High School has four different schools in it. The four schools are: Science & Technology, Human Performance, Humanities, and Global Economy. These schools individualise the way students learn. Students who want to be engineers or who want a career in Technology go to the school of Science & Technology, students who want to become doctors or anything has to do with Health care join Human Performance, etc... All careers are split amongst these schools. This makes it a safe environment for students to learn, they get to know more about each other then worrying about the other schools. The teachers are really nice and they pay more attention to their students. I really think if you want your kids to get a good education, EVHS is the place for them to be. Go Cougars!
