Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I'm a proud parent of a jaguar! I couldn't be anymore satisfied with my choice of school. Escuela Popular is a great school with amazing staff. I chose this school because it's a bilingual school, I didn't want my child to lose her Spanish language as it is a very important for me as a Hispanic women to have my daughter speak both English and Spanish languages. The jaguars of this school are very intelligent individuals whom love coming to school. Thank you Escuela Popular Staff & Family!

Our community (mainly latino families, new comers from different parts of Lationoamerica) are strong and resilient. We face a lot of challenges but believe in our strenghts and know that we will overcome all the obstacles and thrive!

Escuela Popular consistently performs on par or out performs English Learners in the state of California. Escuela's primary goal is to service English Learners, K-12. This school recently obtained six year WASC accreditation for it's two high school academies, which is an Accreditation term that most schools do not earn! They have convenient, hassle-free, and open enrollment. They accept all students regardless of their academic level and/or age. This school offers many services, for the entire family. Here a parent can obtain a high school diploma, acquire English language skills, send their child to the Dual Language Academy, and receive FREE childcare for their non-school aged children. What is most amazing is that a student with ZERO English will learn English and PASS the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) within 2 years. Sure they are lacking advanced technology and state of the Art furniture, but this is why the community and donors should look into helping EP out. Please read the data and really know the school before rating. EP is a great school that is always seeking to improve. EP does TRANSFORMS Lives, of the ENTIRE family.

There are some districts that offer dual immersion programs which are superior than to the ones offered at Escuela. In order to gain admission, you have to take an English Language Proficiency Test. It works out well because it weeds out the kids who would benefit from English Language Instruction an. This school doesn't even have an adopted reading program they say the follow balanced literacy but none of the teachers have been trained in it.

I'm not sure why the State of California has not closed it. They continue to be on academic probation. They lack the resources and leadership to run a school. No teaching credentials required. Every year more then half of the teachers quit.. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD .. You Will Regret it...,, Look for another school who provides a dual-language program with a good score.

This school administration can't decide if it is a high school or a learning center for English. There is a shortage of certified teachers; yearly changes; lax policy for poor behavior; confusion on who is really running things.
