Ruskin is a great school overall. The academically scores are very good, but more important is that it has a well balanced curriculum. Children receive hands-on science at the science lab, diversified math groups, a huge library, music instruction, etc. The environment at Ruskin is community oriented. The teachers are exceptional. The Principal and administrative staff are outstanding. Ruskin is a California Distinguished School, for good reason.

Great school. My son has made a few good friends at Ruskin. Both my husband and myself are impressed by how much he has grown academically in just one year at Ruskin. However, we are a bit disappointed that this year he has been put into a 'combo' class. He said that the homework is 'too easy.' We are worried that he won't be able to gain as much this year.

I love Ruskin! It was my former school fro 3 years! I found the best friends, teachers, and great activities. Ruskin has made me love school!

I could never imagine my daughter at another school Ruskin is #1 in my book! My [daughter] has been a student at Ruskin for three years now and she has grown academically sooo much, thank you Ruskin teachers and to the awesome Principal as well.

Our daughter started from KG and is now in Grade 1 in this school. I am happy with the academic programs though at that level, it very much depends on the philosophy of the teacher. e.g in Kg, there were some teachers whoc believed in homework while there were others that didn't. Ruskin is not our home school. We had transferred into it due to its reputation.

My child has attended Ruskin since kindergarten and just completed fourth grade. There are many wonderful teachers at Ruskin, however, there are also teachers who are not as professional as they should be. Parents need to be aware that test scores and extracirricular activities are not the only things that make a school great! Parents need to ask questions and listen to their children. If your child is lucky enough to have a teacher that loves being a teacher then he/she will probably have a great experience at Ruskin. If the teacher is not happy, your child will not be happy and will not learn as much as he/she should. My son's experience in fourth grade was a negative one and he didn't progress (academically) as he should/could have. His previous experiences at Ruskin were great(he had the best teachers)! Ruskin needs stronger teaching teams in grades 4&5.

I have a 4th grader in Ruskin since Kinder, she has enjoyed and grown immensily with the help of her piers. I also have 3 more kinders going in next fall. I know that this schol academicly will help all my children to succeed in school. I truely recomend Ruskin to anyone who has high goals for their childrens academic acheivment. With parental involvment in their childs future the teachers will help you get to your goals.
