If your child has special education needs, you'd be wise to avoid Leigh High School or any school in the Campbell Union district, otherwise the school is excellent. My son has multiple disabilities and would be fine with a few simple services but they've provided nothing even though required by law. There are no RSP classes at Leigh and no one-on-one RSP's or aides available, at least that is what they tell us. For his RSP class in organizational & study skills last year (part of his IEP) they parked him in the back of a classroom to work unsupervised on homework while the teacher taught another class. We've now had to hire an attorney, which we can't afford but apparently that is the only way to get this district to follow the law under IDEA. In the meantime my son is left to flounder on his own...

Good academic programs. Some issues with budget cuts. Grounds needs to be cleaner. Excellent teachers and reknown band program.

Current program allows students to have A-B days. 3 classes per day (instead of 6) which have longer instruction and allow students to do some work in class. I was suprised how many classes are credited to the UC system, including Advanced Placement classes. Great parents and lots of sports & art programs.

Music progam is great. Sports are great too. The school's academic progam is excellent. I dont think the level of parent involvment is that high, I think more parents should get involved with more activties and other things like that. Also, parents should help their kids more. Talk to them and see if there child needs help. Thank You.

I'm a student here at Leigh and the way the teachers instruct the students here is horrible. The teachers cannot emphasize the importance of education or using the mind as often as possible.

I have two sons that go to this school and one of the two is having problems with motivation and behavior. I have tried reaching out to teachers and staff for support and feedback, but to no avail. If you have a naturally gifted child, you'll love this school, if your child needs help, good luck getting it!

Leigh High School is an awesome school. Both me and my husband attended and all three of our daughters haved attended and loved it. They were given an outstanding education and all three are now attending college. The athletics, art, music and math programs are outstanding! I highly refer people to Leigh High every time I have a chance.

Nothing but trouble with this school! If you have a good kid who is self motivated you will do well - if you have a child with learning disabilities or other difficulties you will find quite a bit of staff apathy. After 2 years at Leigh we moved our family to Washington State. Our daughter's grades went from D's to A's and B's because she found the staff at her new school to be caring and involved.

We moved into the area specifically for this school. Leigh has offered a wonderful educational experience for my children. My eldest graduated early and went on to college seamlessly. My second child (also a Leigh graduate) is currently attending college with absolutely no difficulties. Their sports programs teach wonderful leadership qualities. Parent involvement is consistent as is alumni support. I am proud that my third child is attending Leigh. I know she will get the education she needs to move on.

I graduated from Leigh a few years ago. Upon entering college I was inundated with information that I never knew. Things that students in other high schools had taken for granted. It took me a long time just to catch up due to the lack of education that I received from Leigh.

I graduated from Leigh about two years ago, and would like to refute the claim that Leigh has a poor English program. The fact that someone might base an entire school on one student's comment just shows how ignorant a person can be. Perhaps before making such a decision, one might look at test scores or overall performance instead of a single post. Leigh happens to have provided me, and my former classmates, with a formidable English instruction. It is a great school, with great programs, and an atmosphere that succeeds in fostering student growth.

Leigh High School is providing both of my students with an outstanding education. We are particularly delighted and impressed with the music program. I understand there is a Performing Arts Facility being built to seat 600 people for the six district high schools to enjoy. Very impressive. The music students are kind, courteous and hardworking. We bought our current home in the Leigh High attendance area just for the unbelievable music program.

My daughter is currently a senior and I also have a son who is a sophomore at Leigh. I think this high school is great. My kids have grown in many positive ways academically and emotionally. My daughter has constantly been challenged by her honors and AP classes and plans to attend a UC next year. My son is a strong student who enjoys football, wrestling, and swimming at the school.

I am seeking a 'good' school for my children. When I read the comment section for this school I was horrified. Not that the comments were bad. There was only one, and it was a positive comment from a Band student. However the way in which the comment was written (grammar)is so horrific the student should have never made it out of elementary school. This school may have a great Band, but they obviously have a terrible English department. I think I will look elsewhere.

i am a studen that goes to leigh but the main reason i go to leigh is because of th band program, it is the bes in the valley, we went to New York last year (2002-2003) to play in Carnagie Hall. and this yeah(2003-2004)we will be going to Hawaii

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
