Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

At first when I came to Davis, I thought this school was so ghetto. I later learned that this school offers wonderful programs and a has a great staff. I would probably have to complain about how the school needs improvments lookwise. There is only one restroom (per gender) and they are bad. The teachers are really nice and caring for their students, but some just can't really teach.I suggest you send your student to davis because overall it's not that bad, and yeah there are some badly influenced student, but every school has kids like that. I also suggest your student joins the band program because there are many fun trips to look forward to and I personally regret not joining. So don't listen to all those bad rumors.

I don't think it is very intelligent to assume that a school is bad just from what you hear because we all know what happens when you assume something. Davis is a good school and I will not allow someone to talk bad about it just because they heard all of the bad rumors. Davis has an amazing CJSF program and an incredible Band program which has many field trips through out the year. The teachers are extremely helpful and they all wanted me to get an "A" and would help me when I asked. They're are also after school programs that help you like Algebra Club. I know all of this information because I graduated with the class of 210-2011 and when it comes to the gangs every school has gangs. Why I don't know why anyone would want to be in a gang but in reality people make dumb decisions and the people who are in a "gang" don't bother you, so your student should be perfectly fine.

I am a student at Davis School. Davis is an overall, great school. We work together to bring together the community through various events such as spaghetti dinners and service work projects. Through my two years as a student at Davis, I have met great kids and inspirational teachers. My teachers have made learning fun in new ways. When we learn science, we interact in labs, and when we learn math we find real life applications. The band program is an awesome way to meet new people and discover a new talent. You can never be bored at lunch or break. If you are not hanging out with friends, you can help at the student store, or visit the art room to create a masterpiece. Davis is a fun school and despite popular belief, it is not 'ghetto'. There is constant supervision and you can always learn and have fun.

Hi, right now im attending davis as an 8th grader and this school gives me A's because my teachers are very helpful and gives lots of time after school if u dnt understand, like my Algebra math teacher Mrbarkley, the cafeteria food is good and healthy. My band teacher MrMorgan is the best band teacher because our band is better than herman and bernal because we get superiors. The sports are the best because the coach will make u better plaer every practice.

I have an 13 year old daughter who feels very supported by her teachers, counselor and the assistant principal. She feels like it is a positive place to learn because the teachers care and even administration gets involved in helping her to succeed.

Extensive after-school sports offerings, the stellar music program, passionate and dedicated teachers who care about all students' success, a very safe campus, lunch time activities for all students to participate in, the large number of students in honors classes, etc. Look at the diversity in the honors classes, in the band, in the sports programs. All students are able to be involved positively at Davis.

A decent school, but the campus is very shabby. No extracurricular activities other than sports. But this school's band is really incredible, with 20+ instruments to choose from! Counselors are very kind and helpful.

The honor classes are very good. The honors algebra course is fantastic. My kids learned so much there. Now that one of them goes to a prestigious high school, he is first in his class in math, thanks to the good background from Davis.

I am a parent of a Davis School student and a teacher at the school. I brought my daughter there because having worked at four other junior high schools, this school had the best and most caring teachers. She is now a senior at a state University.

Davis Intermediate School teachers are great collaborators. They meet daily to discuss improving academics and I sense that they genuinely care about their students' progress. I find that Davis' teachers have high expectations for their students and work hard at giving motivating and engaging lessons. Good job Davis!

Great school with very good teachers but the kids that attend might be a bit of a problem. The school doesn't seem to have much money to get good new supplies for the students too.

I have been very impressed with both the students and the staff at Davis this year. The honors programs keep my child motivated and challenged but not overworked. The sports programs are well run and fun for the students and the parents. There are programs before and after school to help the struggling and thriving students. I love the social atmosphere for the kids at lunch and the dances after school. There are so many chances for the kids to get involved and take pride in being a Raider, it is wonderful. There are also a caring involved group of parents and teachers who keep things running smoothly and make everyone feel welcome. Thank you to all of you.

I am a student at Davis and will be graduating this year. I've heard many rumors about fights and how awful the school is and was scared to go there at first but after the first day or so I knew those were lies. At my time at Davis there have been around two fights and both were after school. The after school sports I give an A+. The coaches are the best you could ask for and wow, it's to good to explain in words. Davis to me is the best school you could ask for.

Davis School offers a comprehensive after school sports program which provides physical fitness and opportunity for team play. The program is organized and continously monitored by administrators and Davis staff. Communication with parents is a vital element for student success. Every Davis teacher has telephone voice mail and access to e mail. If parents have difficulty reaching a teacher, please contact the school counselor or administrator.

In the year 2000, my son was at Davis and I was on the School Site Council. It was very interesting to see the money that was available to the school and how it was used. My son benefitted from the extra programs made available through such funding. At that time there was a 'dress code' which was simple and easy to follow. This was a safety issue...staff only need look around the school and would notice if a person was not a student due to them not wearing the school dress code. Colors were grey, black and white..pretty much any style as long as it was covering body and not baggy. A new principal decided to do away with the dress code because it was felt it was too hard to enforce. My daughter now attends Davis and she would benefit from the dress code guidelines and limitations. Safety is the issue here. I would like to see students take more pride in the school and work on a beautification project as part of their school involvement.

After be hesitant to have my child attend 7th grade at Davis, due to rumors of thefts and fighting, as well as low test results compared to other schools in same district, I was pleased with the outcome by the end of the school year. I feel my child, who is in honor classes, was challenged and received the education she deserved. She enjoyed most of her teachers and had no negative incidents throughout the year. I feel the principal should learn how to effectively talk to the children instead of yelling at them, but other than that Davis has been a good school.
