I have one child who completed K-5 and two children curently enrolled at WGE. Our family loves the school. The children are very friendly, curtious and diverse. The teachers and staff are wonderful with the students and the parents. WGE has an amazing Accelerated Reading program that really has gotten the school excited about reading. They have music at least once a week (plus an optional choir); wonderful art, science and sensitivity docent programs; great after school programs (such as art, chess, soccer, basketball and science); and parents that really like to get involved. The principal is amazing. She is tough, but soft all at the same time. If you pay attention to test scores, the principal, teachers, staff, students and parents have really had a major roll in bringing the school's test scores up and helping the school achieve the Distinguished School Award in 2006.

I have one child in third grade at Willow Glen Elementary and I can say, very simply, that our family loves this school. The academics are challenging and include accelerated math and reading programs. My daughter struggled with reading the first couple of years at school, but with the additional assistance of wonderful teachers and aides and the accelerated reading program, my daughter has now exceeded grade level in reading and, more importantly, enjoys reading. In addition to academics, there are numerous after school activities to be involved in and other enrichment during school hours (such as Art Docent, Science Docent, and Peacebuilder programs). The school community is very friendly, supportive, and cohesive. And the principal, teachers, aides, and staff are all very dedicated, caring, and skilled. We love our school.

Willow Glen Elementary has so much to offer. Academics is strong. Accelerated Reader is the best thing for my two girls. They love to read when they see their progress from book to book. The After School Activities are great. Often more than one activity per day to choose from. The new 2 story classroom building will be done by August. Can't wait. What an awesome school!

I have had two chiildren go through Willow Glen Elementary School and I cannot say enough great things about this school. WGE provides a caring environment where academics are challenging and expectations are high. There are fantastic art, science and music programs in place, as well as many different after school programs to choose from. The school has a very active PTA that provides a wonderful feeling of community. WGE is currently in the process of adding a beautiful new building which will open Fall of 2007.

My son started at WGE for 1st grade. He is now in 3rd grade. I was planning on moving last year, but the thought of him changing from this wonderful school made me ill. He has done wonderful, Mr Schibetta is the best 2nd grade teacher of all times! My son was introduced to so much variety in Math and now he has the confidence all 3rd graders should have. My kids are in fourth and second grade. The academics at the school are very strong. (Go to www.cde.ca.gov to look at demographic breakdowns of test scores to see why overall test scores do not accurately represent the school). The teachers are very experienced. The PTA is very strong. There are a lot of in-class enrichment programs (art, music, accelerated reader and math) and after-school programs (chess, karate, daycare). The school is in the heart of downtown Willow Glen and is truly a community school. I am very happy with the education my children are receiving at WGE.

This School could use more homework assignments. Traffic at pickup and drop-off is bad. PTA is strong.

This is such a great school, I love it , I wish my kids could still go there, but we moved out of the distric. My girls did very well at this school. They still talk about the great teachers they had like Mrs Wise!
