We moved from Arroyo Grande to San Luis Obispo at the beginning of the school year. With much anticipation for new school jitters, my daughter has excelled in all areas of the school curriculum. The faculty and PTA support is superb.
My daughter has had 2 great years at Bishop's Peak. I am impressed at the level of education she received in a loving environment. She is now in 2. grade and reading and writing away. A love for learning will pave the way for her future studies. The school is beautifully located and the buildings adequate. Study trips, sponsored in part by the PTA help kids connect learning and fun. Art, Drama and Music are also a part of the schedule as is PE - although I think the PE program needs to be expanded (given the Nations health crisis). The library is inviting and the school has a parent run garden/compost program.
The school is in a beautiful setting. Some teachers are great, talk to other parents to learn who they are. Overall this school seems to be just going through the motions and the Principal taking the path of least resistance, allowing mediocre to terrible teachers to run the show. If you get the right teachers and classes all will be well.
Bishop's Peak appears to be a high quality school with excellent teachers, staff and parents. The teachers are experienced and as such have well stocked rooms and many teaching tools to utilize. The parents appear to provide for the items that are not provided by the district or the teachers. The PTA has provided the school with excellent art teachers, as well as many excellent field trips for all. The school has a music program as well as a good PE program. The extracurricular activities in general appear to be very good. The facilities are only average. The district does not maintain them to the level of the education that is provided. The school does not have enough seating to accommodate all of the children for lunch. Therefore, the students have at most 15 minutes to eat and sometimes less than 10 minutes to eat which is sad.
Great area of town. They have a beautiful computer lab that seems to not get much use. Tons of parnt involvement.
Our daughter has been at this school for 2 years so far, starting her third year now. The overall opinion of this school is excellent. The teachers and staff strive towards excellence! The standards level is considered good to high by most parents I've spoken with regarding educational quality at this elementary school.
We have had our two kids here for the last 4 years. The teachers, principal, and staff are very dedicated to the kids! Our kids love going to school here and we really like the parent envolvement.
My son began attending Bishop's Peak Elementary School in the 2nd grade. It was only then that I found out (I had been suspecting for some time) that, indeed, my son had a learning disability. With the help of the principal, his teacher, human resources etc. he was tested, tutored and able to keep up in his great to move on to 3rd grade. The entire staff at Bishop's Peak are truely there for unselfish reasons and strive for the best of the children that attend.
