The teaching staff is pretty good. This was a great school before they changed the administration when San Elijo opened.

I am entering my second year as a counselor at SMMS. I have been impressed with school administrators and teaching staff. They are positive, ful of energy and highly interested that every student receives quality academic education. In the counseling office, every student is welcome and carefully asses to ensure he or she recieves the help in the area of personal/social growth or acdemic or careers. The Boys and Girls Club and Gear Up are essential programs at SMMS as well.

My child is very happy with this school. This upcoming school year she will be an 8th grader in and extrodinary advanced band, geometry, and all honors classes. She has made very good friends and she can't wait to get back. She will also be trying out for the Girl's Basketball and volleyball teams. Also, this year they are starting football and soccer. She attends the After School Academy. There she has been involved in many different activities that they have to offer, along with being Toto in the Wizard of Oz remix the children wrote. The staff are great also. Melissa Gillie and Anika Ferree, she comments, are two of the greatest adults she has ever met. Personally, I believe that SMMS looks like a run down school, but if my child is happy that keeps me happy. That's why I have Crusader spirit! All about the maroon and gold!

I will be an 8th grade student this school year. I will be involved in various activities that I am proud to say this school provides, such as Volleyball, the award winning newspaper, and Basketball. I will also be placed in Geometry and honors laguage Arts and History. These past two years at SMMS have been two of the most enjoyable years of my existence. I have made great friends and had great expiriences. The administrators have been great. Mr.Rodrigez(A.P.) and Mr. Randall(principal) are the greatest. The teachers are also fun to be around. Mr. Coleman,Mrs. Alvillar,Mrs. Flanagan,Mrs. Reeves, Mr. Love,Mr. Strathairn,Mr. Preyess,Mr. Munn, Mr.Aguilar, Mr.De La Barra,Mrs.Gilman, Ms.McGuire, and Mrs.Roberts-Hegyi. Even though they teach different subjects they have made huge impacts in my life. I play the clarinet in the Advanced Band(06-07) and the conductor is extremely patient and picks out nice selections, even when he doesn't have much parental help.

My child has attended SMMS for two years and will finish 8th grade this next school year. We have been pleased with the overall experience and education received. I challenge any parent that might hear a negative comment or untrue rumor to make an appointment with Mr. Randall or the VP. Chances are, any rumors heard are coming from parents whose child doesn't attend SMMS. Educate yourself. Stop by the campus anytime for a tour. I did and was pleased with all of the programs available to my child.

Great principal and assistant principals, I must say, but the traffic conducting in the mornings were horrible and caused many problems.
