I transferred my children to horrall from a private school and I was amazed with how much the school has to offer. I am very active with my childrens education and I am very impressed with Principal Dean / Teachers. My children have come out of the box and have excelled in academics with the transfer. They are given work that is challenging and has literally pushed them to a level of independence, they are compelled to initiate leadership.

I transferred my daughter here from Highlands and it was so much better for her. John Dean, the principal is hands on and involved, the teachers are happy and pay attention to the kids and the arts program is great. I hope they are able to keep the arts. A great, great school!

This school pays special attention to those with learning needs, overlooking those that excel and can be pushed to do even better. If you have a high achiever, she can easily be bored at this school. My child is in third grade and it s half way through the school year, and has not even learned how to read handwriting. The people are nice, the staff is great, the art class is fun, but I m slightly disappointed with the level of education in the school.

What an amazing education and opportunity for students! This dynamic public Arts school is led by an engaged principal and dedicated teachers! The 4 Arts classes that ALL students attend every week are an incredible way to enhance the core curriculum.

Excellent school! Extremely competent, caring teachers and a new dynamic principal. This is my third child to attend Horrall and my children receive an outstanding education with the added dimension of the visual and performing arts classes. My child gets weekly classes in music, art, dance and drama which is integrated with the classroom curriculum. The school produces a all school (yes, all students) musical production each year. The PTA is very involved this year in many different events and you can feel a great sense of community.

I love this school and its staff! My son was a former student at North Shoreview Elementary and although the API score is higher, I think they miss the mark on taking care of students at every level. My son was working below grade level and although the teacher did what she could to help him with summer school, extra reading programs, there wasn't a connection and understanding of my son's real needs. I even met with both the teacher and principal and both promised to deliver on further testing and case study and nothing happend! I was really disappointed. Montessori or not, I think they were too busy to really care about the child's needs. I love everything about Horral. The principal, the teachers really do care. The school is very weary of who is on the school grounds. I was stopped by the principal one day! Awesome!

What school can pull themselves out of program improvement with having the amount of special ed kids factored into their test scores. The teachers are the finest and the school has government funded true art residence that incorporate Arts into the core subjects being taught. You should visit this school and see that it is the best kept secret in San Mateo District.

The worse school ever! Principal is rude. The front office staff is rude. The newer younger teachers are very dedicated and come in with new, fresh ideas and perspective. Clearly there are some veteran teachers who suffer from 'burnout' and need to retire but who do not. Send your child to any other school but here. I have spoke to several other parents who share the same opinion.

An excellent school in this District. My children, one learning disabled (dyslexia), and the other an outstanding pupil, have BOTH done wonderfully at Horrall. I am very happy with all aspects of the School. And just FYI, my children are part of the minority here. They're white. No problems at Horrall at all. Thanks much!
