We are so happy to have our son at NSM. The teachers are wonderful and the montessori apporach allows them to really get to know the kids and how to challenge and engage them. What the kids learn is so well rounded. They sing, act, cook, garden, and do art and PE and learn geography starting in kindergarten. They learn how to communicate, solve problems in multiple ways and care about and respect other people and cultures. All this and they learn the academics that are required and expected too.
I am a parent of two students. This is a wonderful school, full of caring teachers, parents and staff. It is small and cozy....like a small town.
Simply because the teachers give so much and really care about the children.
It's a public Montessori! Kids get individualized attention, can choose their jobs and they love it! It makes all the difference. My daughter is soooo excited about school, she just finds it fascinating. The teachers are very committed to sharing their knowledge with kids and parents volunteer for a few hours every month.
We have had a wonderful experience at North Shoreview Montessori so far. This is our eighth year at the school - we have a 3rd grader and a seventh grader, and both are thriving in the Montessori environment. In our experience, the teachers are very caring and responsive overall as far as providing extra challenges to our children when they needed to be pushed a little more. The culture of local and global responsibility goes hand in hand with the personal, life and social skills they learn at NSMS. Lots of dedicated families along with a terrific staff make it a not only a great place of learning, but also a place where the students feel valued.
School with the most caring and qualified Montessori teachers in the world!
Northshoreview has taught my son about social responsibility, from caring about the earth to learning about other cultures and people, emphisizing on world peace. These are things that are necessary in todays world . Along with an excellent montessori education the school encourages children to ask questions and be leaders , not just sit back and be passive learners. My son loves his school and has a great love for learning that was encouraged by Northshoreview.
It's a great community with a good academic program, taking individual differences into consideration. We love being a part of North Shoreview!
I now have a fourth and second grader at North Shoreview and I am very happy about their Montessori education. I feel the staff cares about each child individually. I also appreciate the exceptional parents who give their time and energy. This makes this school very special.
North Shoreview Montessori is a hidden gem. The community is small and tight-knit, and the principal, teachers and classroom aides know all the kids by name. Parent involvement is strong - although like many schools there are a smaller number of parents who do the majority of the work. I'm impressed with how many dads take leaderships roles at NSM as well. Thanks to the Montessori environment, kids work at their own levels - and there are huge ranges in every classroom. My kids are challenged daily. Lots of ESL families , and while I would like to see more interactions between the English speaking/ESL families, the school offers many events to build community. The population is changing to be more families interested in Montessori, not just because it is the school in their neighborhood. Test scores do not show all the amazing learning taking place.
