My child is in his second year at SMEDS and I can t say enough about the wonderful sense of community, the caring nature of the teachers and the confidence that comes from a St. Matt's education. No, BELIEVE the hype take a tour. As walk around the classrooms and talk to the children I guarantee you will be impressed as they look you in the eye, tell you about the curriculum and welcome you warmly to the school. The list of high schools the students are admitted and attend after St. Matt s is very impressive. It's a fabulous prep school with strong parent involvement.

Our family has been a member of the St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School community for five years, and we couldn't be happier. The education is outstanding due to the small class size, outstanding faculty, and superior resources. The school is led by an incredible administration, which is responsive and interactive with both parents and children alike. The children are taught public speaking from a very early age and are exposed to almost every extracurricular activity imaginable. Together with the parents, the school helps children foster self-confidence, empathy, manners and an orientation toward community service. Upon graduating from St. Matthew's, the children go on to the best high schools in the area well prepared and enthusiastic about learning.

Seven years in to the St. Matthew's experience, we have a middle school and a lower school student, and love this school. High academic standards are of course a necessity in this area, and St. Matthew's delivers well. Our graduates are known for their excellent preparation for rigorous high schools. What really distinguishes the school is the nurturing, caring and respectful environment. The little kids look up to the leadership of the big kids, and the big kids love to take on the responsibility of being leaders of their community. These kids are comfortable speaking and performing in front of their peers and audiences, they are comfortable dealing with adults, and they are confident and caring. In his third year here, the Head has made the school his own, and has energized and empowered the strong faculty to always look for ways to be better.

Giving my children the gift of education is the best gift I can give them. Exposing them to high academic standards, music, drama, spirituality, sportsmanship, manners and compassion towards others is what St Matthews Episcopal is all about. If you have a choice, how could you not?

The teachers at St. Matthew's are fabulous, caring and skilled. Initially I was concerned about sending my 3 children to such a small middle school (they started in the lower school) but I found it to be a wonderful environment for creating leadership and developing my children's interests. Very devoted teachers in the middle school! The students learn to love learning and care about each other and their world. Parents care about education and about good citizenship and do not seem to be overly concerned with status and money. The community is one I am happy to be a part of.

St Matthew's Episcopal Day School has met all the requirements we were looking for in an elementary school - a challenging academic program with the best, most caring teachers and staff, an enriching spiritual environment, a wonderful parent community and a place where children learn values , manners and how to care for their fellow students. Past graduates have gone on to top high schools and colleges and I am confident my children will as well.

St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School provides an excellent education that prepares children not only for success in high school, but in life in general. With the openness of the Episcopal faith tradition, students learn about all the major world religions. The school uniform levels the playing field, so to speak, so kids aren't competing with each other over who has the coolest clothes, which is especially an issue for girls at most schools as girls move into the middle school years. The teachers are caring, well-trained, and they give lots of one on one attention to students. My daughter loves school, which is more than I could ever ask for as a parent. Graduates go on to terrific private high schools like Menlo and Crystal, among others, which is a testament to the great education that the school provides year after year.

We had a child a Baywood and a child at St Matthews, we had considered moving all our children to Baywood b/c of the cost, but after seeing the dramatic differences between our two childrens reading comprehension, math skills and overall attitude towards learning - we moved all of our children (3) to St Matthews. They have incredible programs in Math, Language, Science, Computer Science, Sports programs, etc.. Cal Public Schools are in the lowest 50% of all States - investing in your childrens education is the most important gift you can give them - the earlier the better. The School is very diverse and has one of the best records for sending students to the best private high schools on the Peninusula.

St. Matthew's has the right balance of challenging academics, caring and dedicated teachers, and an emphasis on values and character education. Our daughter has had great opportunities to shine and learn to be a leader, in Lower School and Middle School. The program has high expectations and teaches kids skills in a supportive and close-knit environment. It's a great family-oriented school community.
