This school is one of the originals. The teachers go above and beyond daily! The district wide TK program was written by one of our very own teachers. It's a small town community and everyone looks out for the kids.
Mrs. Burgermeister is an excellent teacher! Consider yourself lucky if your kid is assigned to her.
Golden View is a great school for helping shape well rounded students.
Great school. Previous parent commented on the fundraising money and not seeing any improvements. The money donated goes to pay for teachers, teacher support, materials and many other necessities that, unfortunately, our state does not provide the funds for. My three kids all do extremely well at Golden View. I feel fortunate they are there!! New principal and office staff are doing terrific! Others who complain should perhaps attend school in Oakland for a year. (thoguh Oakland does get a lot more state fundugg than we do!)
Below average. We donated the full amount but never see any improvement. We wonder where did they spend the money? I just can't say enough. I am sending my child to another school.
My first child graduated from golden view and the second is there already. We have had our share of very good teachers and very mediocre teachers. They are very proud of things just standard, which is in other word just average and again mediocre. Challanging students is often talked about, but not practiced. Some office staff can improve their manners. We also lack a lot of activities other schools offer, such as forth and fifth grade camps.
Our children have been attending Golden View for several years. We absolutely love the school. I am surprised to read the negative feedback left by others and wonder if there is more to their stories. I have worked in school districts around the country and feel Golden View goes above and beyond in many areas. I know many families who move to the Golden View area just due to the school; or if they live in another San Ramon neighborhood, they petition to get into Golden View. The teachers range from very good to exceptional. We miss our principal who passed away in 2005. So far I am impressed with the new principal who was just hired. The curriculum seems flexible enough to work with children at different levels. My daughter is in the gifted program and is challenged constantly! We love Golden View!
Horrible experience! I will never send my children to a public school again. They teach to the lowest level in the classromm while the average and above students sit around bored.
My daughter has spent one year at Golden View. The teachers and staff have been very supportive. I feel it's a great environment in a good community. I have no negative comments -- we are very happy with Golden View!
overall good school. I feel the ciriculum can be improved to support more of a reading and writing emphasis. Writing skills are overlooked in early grades. I feel my 4th grade daughter has not been guided properly to learn the necessary writing skills a fourth grader should know. High teacher turnover and using substitues for an entire year I feel has jeopardized the education quality. Science class and program can be improved. Staff is strict, Unfortunately they loss their principal and are in a transition phase. Good computer lab but is taught by volunteer parents. Addditional help for kids struggling is scarce. Teachers could be more receptive to those who need extra help. I have enjoyed my time there but have struggled to find anything extraordinary about the staff and teachers and the ciriculum.
I believe Golden View to be one of the top schools is a very strong academic area. Parent participation levels are extraordinary and the school benefits directly by the involvement. There is an excellent Art program, as well as Physical education, science, music and computer programs. Overall, an excellent school.
My K daughter has enjoyed her time here. Teachers are helpful and available to discuss any issues. The facilities are great, area is great and office support staff have been very helpful.
It amazes me that in such a high income area that the school would not be an 'A' school. Supposedly this is comparable to the Lamorinda school district and I find that extremely hard to believe given the % of this school. Much more emphasis could be on staffing appropriately and not having an entire Wednesday focused on play activity rather then reading and writing. This school is in great need of approvement in testing and teachers taking responsibilty for teaching the children what they need to know.
Rude, unresponsive principal. Overcrowded kindergarten classrooms - 40 children in one tiny room! Poorly kept school grounds. Inexperienced teachers. We were so disguested by the quality of this school that we pulled our daughter out and moved her to a private school in less than 2 weeks. A terrible experience!
