Horrible atmosphere students are disrespectful to teachers and also they are disrespectful to fellow student. Most stuck up and judgemental with a mindset that they are better than everyone else.
The calvary bubble! Not good at all. Horrible, judge mental, terrible classes, no class choices such as a public school or other private schools, bad kids, and teachers who cant teach. Waste of money.
I can't say enough about this school. My daughter has attending since elementary, and his now a Junior in High School. There are so many extra curicular activities that are offered that she has been able to be involved in. This school also has acheived the highest creditdation that a school can be granted. Additonally, Judy in the MCA office is wonderful asset to the school!
Christian based school where they make Jesus the center of all learning. They have a strong academic philosophy. Teach towards aiming for a college education and want to help their students become responsible members of society.
My kids attend Calvary and they have had a wonderful experience with all the teachers and staff. They love it.
My four children began at MCA in 2000. My oldest graduated in 2008, I have one who will graduate this school year (2010), I have another beginning high school and my youngest is beginning junior high. All four have grown in wisdom, knowledge, stature and favor with God and men since they have attended the three Calvary Chapel Schools these past nine years. As a Christian parent I couldn't ask for more!
I have had my daughter at MCA for 4 years. Love the teachers. I disagree with all of the junk food that they have at the school. Soda machines, candy and icecream machines. I also disagree with how relaxed they are on how short the girls are a loud to wear their uniforms such as skirts, and dresses. They also allow sculls on the packpacks, lunch box, etc. I love that Judy the secreatary know all of the kids names. Love you Judy! You are such a Blessing to Calvary! Overall, Thank you MCA for everything.
I hope people reading this site understand that Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) is K through 8 and Calvary Chapel High is 9 - 12. Each has their own principal and staff. I had three sons at M.C.A. and currently have four grandchildren enrolled. The academic standard is high, positive discipline is a priority, and essential moral standards are taught and practiced. Teachers are exceptional and the administration is open to parent's' comments. I also appreciate the fact there are several classes for each grade. That allows the opportunity for students to have a choice of teachers and meet new classmates each year.
I would have to say the amount of money spent for an education at this school is unnecessary. Most of the high school teachers are first year teachers, and most of the older teachers who have been there for years are not qualified , most are still trying to earn their degrees. If you are looking for a school to seriously prepare your child for college this is not it. Academics aside, the spiritual portion of this school is also lacking. For the amount of money spent on a private school to prepare your child for college, Calvary is just mediocre.
My daughter just finished her last year of high school here and absolutely loved it. She entered in the 7th grade from a different private school and what a big difference. Calvary is so loving and nurturing towards the kids and their open door policy is great. Could have asked for a better school for our daughter!
MCA was great. Many moms and dads teaching. Junior High was ok, still not to many educated teachers. High School should be preparing the students to go to college .
The school has an excellent atmosphere of nice students and parents but... we are not happy with the quality of the high school teachers. Several are young and inexperienced and should not be learning the ropes in high school. High school is not a place for first time teachers. Questionable academics, mediocre teachers, and oddly enough, strange Bible teachers make it so we can't recommend the school. We will home school or put our daughter in another private school next year. There have been a few good teachers but they are in the minority. MCA was very good, but the high school is not.
Excelent in academics, discipline, truly LOVE Calvary Chapel School of Costa Mesa. Due to having to move so many times, my daughter was in at least 5 different school throughout the years. We put her in Maranatha Chrisian Academy first and now she is in Calvary Chapel High, has been attending the Calvary School in Costa Mesa for good Five years and we are truly blessed to have her there. Excelent in Christ centered, truly amazing leaders and teacher. I will recommend Calvary to everyone that wants to send their child to a WONDERFUL school.
My daughter went to MCA for 1st and 2nd grade. I really like this school, except I find that it has a lot less extracurricular activities/clubs/sports programs than the public schools. Do they have Spirit Week/Homecoming/Prom in high school?? They also don't offer speech therapy (public does,) so my 5 yr old will be starting kindergarten in public. Therefore we've decided to transfer our daughter to public in the fall for 3rd grade to be with her brother. Though I truly enjoy MCA (for safety & bible teaching) I also noticed that my daughter has a lot less homework than her cousin who lives in Irvine. I've done homework with all of them, and Irvine's Monday Homework packet for the whole week is just crazy! Not sure if that's good or bad. Overall, thank you MCA for giving my daughter 2 great years!
It is called a Bubble.. It is..never good eaither... They where Crazy... Hard on the Kids.. and Judgementel
Calvary Chapel High School was an amazing school for my daughter. She needed the small class size and the christian foundation. My daughter excelled at all sports and at academics because of the caring and wonderful people at Calvary. Thank you to all the teachers, ministers, and administrators that made my daughters experience in high school and beyond so rewarding.
My child has been attending MCA/CCJH since Kindergarten and has had a very positive experience at this school. All the teachers are very caring, and developing a Christ-like young adult is at the center of the educational focus. My child was recently assessed for entrance into public high school and has been placed in every honors class available at the school. I cannot say enough positive things about the time proven curriculum and practices used to teach fundamental concepts and foundational skills at the elementary level at this school. Although History, Science, Writing, and other curricula seem to change over the years, the school remains committed to the A Beka reading system which has stood the test of time and has taught millions of children to read before 1st grade. Thank you Calvary for all of your dedication to our student!
Strong Christian world view. God centered staff. Limited space and resources. Mostly solid sports programs. Low bar set for teacher requirements.
My son is currently attending the full day kindergarten program at Maranatha Christian Academy. He has been attending MCA since September 2005. He is able to read books now! The school also introduces a new Bible verse each week for the student to memorize and to ecourage to live by. I'm torn though to put my son in 1st grade at MCA (just for vicinity purposes).
My son has been attending since kindergarten he is an excellent reader learned his first year and has had excellent teacher each year they are teaching manners along with enjoyment of learning. I am please to be blessed to be able to send him there.
