Santa Barbara High is not only a beautiful school in a beautiful city, it's a school that cares about the students and their future. We couldn't be more pleased.

caring, resilient, imaginative, creative, they care about the students - body, mind, spirit - community involvement, making healthy choices - gifted teachers, support staff and counselors have a talent for this age group--could not be in this for the money...in view of budget cuts, FEMA disaster area and landing site of water bearing aircraft and refueling....location between SBHS and SBJunior High.....

Santa Barbara high school has provided my 4 children an excelent education and a safe environment. Their teachers havre been actively involved in theri education and have guided them to pursue a higher education by challenging them academically, and advise them on what to look in a 4 years college.

The baseball program is first rate! It's just one of many top notch programs this school offers. Academic programs are high. More of their students attend college, including elite colleges, than the other schools in our area.

This school has a nunch of great kids, of all races. Some live in bad houses, and have to work harder than others, some have family issues, but this school is providing a great education for all and because of the help and education it is bringing people it deserves the money

The diversity of students and all the innovative ways the school addresses the different type of learners. They have added academies to give kids skills and direction before leaving high school. The counselors are helpful and available as our the teachers. The campus has good securtiy. There are opportunities to participate in the arts and drama and clubs. It is old Santa Barbara with historic buildings. This year the parents can access their childrens' attendance and test scores, so everyone is responsible and up to date. Ginny Kuhn

I love Santa Barbara Senior High School because it has a diverse group of students, a wide variety of courses and clubs, great athletic, art, drama, and academic programs, and I always feel at home and in touch with my teachers and fellow classmates. Santa Barbara High School has awesome programs such as VADA, the visual arts and design academy. There are so many choices of classes to take and the campus is beautiful. We also have so much school spirit and everyone feels accepted. Once a Don, always a Don!

About the tests


In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
