My daughter is in 7th grade and is having a fantastic year at SBJHS. From our first visit, the staff & principal have made her feel welcome. The principal is great and very 'present' on campus. There is a sense of community and I know safety and discipline issues are taken seriously. My daughter enjoys her classes and I'm really impressed with the teachers - they make the curriculum interesting and many of them communicate regularly by email (and are available by phone if there is a problem). Socially, she is happy and has made new friends. All and all, the school made the transition from elementary to jr. high a breeze!
My son is a 7th grader and he is in to sports and history, I personaly like all the help he's got from the programs after school, I can see he is improving at math too (subject he dosn't like as much),the principal is very entusiastic about every student, the teachers also very accessible, the office stuff so helpfull, I think my son made a wise choice.
My son, now an 8th grader at S.B.J.H. has had a positive experience at this school. The teachers are great and dedicated and the curriculum is very challenging. The atmosphere of the campus is welcoming and the admin., office staff, custodians, and councilors are all friendly and helpful. The leadership club is very special and we are grateful to be pert of the sbjh experience.
Our child is in 7th G at SBJH, she loves it better than her elememtary school... We like the presence, positive attitude of the principal and the teachers..
SBJH has been a positive experience for my son. The curriculum is challenging and the music program has been keeping him busy. I especially don t recall having as much interest in history during my junior high days as my son has, and I m sure it has to do with the animated & motivating teaching methods. The enthusiasm of the teachers and principal in encouraging their students to succeed is appreciative.
Our daughter is in 7th grade at SBJH and we love it! The school atmosphere is healthy and lively, the teachers are accessible, open to parent input, and very professional. The principal sets the tone for the whole educational experience here. He's hands-on, highly visible to students and parents and obviously cares very much about creating an environment where every kid can be and feel successful.
The principal and the teachers at SBJHS are very dedicated to all the students there!
I have had three children attend SBJH and have been very pleased. A previous principal told me the junior high was really a place for the kids to adjust socially and prepare themselves for high school and eventually college. There was a large group of kids for them to develop new friends. By attending SBJH they were prepared for SBHS. They are now graduating and confident heading into college. My son wrote his college essays on the positive aspects of the diverse group of friends he made there. It is a neighborhood school and no commuting on the freeways.
Our children attended SBJH from 2002 to 2007. In that time there has been improvement in administration and teaching. The new principal is dynamic and strong, and the teachers are united while teaching to and above the state standards. Embrace and experience the diversity of the school it. For the motivated student, SBJH has the most challenging curriculum with award winning teachers in English, science, and social studies. For the struggling student, teachers are utilizing the best teaching strategies known. It is a program improvement school due only to the impossibly tough federal standards placed on children with disabilities. Those mandates force schools to continually look for ways to improve, and that has served the school well. SBJH is a gem of a school with a tradition and future deserving of its name.
SBJH is an awesome school. The administration is open, energetic, and effective. The GATE program is the best in town; and, the PTSA is very involved sponsoring many activities, including lunchtime activities for students and parents, parent education and multiple teacher appreciation days.
