The academic program has continued to become more rigorous for all students and includes extracurricular activities as well.

where at Blochman every kid is a star. There is good communication between the teachers, staff and parents. If you are a parent considering Blochman as a choice you should speak to the people that live in Santa Maria and Orcutt, find out why so many of them transfer their kids to Blochman. . If you have a special needs child or a child who has trouble conforming to a traditional public school maybe this is the place for you. The lower class family or child with disabilities are not accepted very well at private schools. My child shines bright at Blochman.

I am a parent who lives in a neighboring district. Two of my children had previously been attending a very highly ranked school near us, but when the budget cuts came through, and class size doubled, the quality dropped significantly from what we were used to. I transferred one of my children mid-year (my older child wanted to finish out the year with her old friends), and honor roll report cards, an increased love of reading, and a much happier kid was the result! The teacher was very attentive and responsive to our needs, and a little new-student-finding-his-niche problem was handled so well, that the several students who were involved are now good friends! Next year, my two other kids will go too, and we look forward to the following years at a school where parents and teachers work together, and parents and kids are heard!

I am a local resident and have two children that attend Benjamin Foxen Elementary. I am so happy with my choice for my childrens' education. I know they are safe, cared for by the staff and are receiving a quality education in which they will be able to compete with others later on in life. There is a strong moral foundation at this school that many others in the area are lacking. In addition, the parental support is amazing! It is wonderful to see the many functions available to parents that other schools have cut out. I would also like to add the support from the PTA is great. It's amazing what this PTA has accomplished with the support of a VERY giving community. I can only wait to see what other exciting things await for my children. GO BOBCATS!!!!!

I am a proud parent of four great kids that I love and want the best for. I am a local who has chosen to stay in our Community School District and I could not be happier with that decision. In the six years that our family has been a part of Blochman, I have found the school to be the perfect place for both my special needs and regular learning children that God has blessed me with. There is a good balance of individualized support for those in need and challenging programs for those that are not. Blochman has a loving staff that sincerely cares about our children, and an amazing PTA that provides many opportunities for our students and families to come together. I am pleased that my children have the opportunity to attend this school, which truly is a hidden treasure.

I am ashamed as a parent that I tried Blochman school. I was unhappy with the lack of communication between the staff and parents. The bottom line at this school is money first before the best interest of the kids. Money is tight at all schools I realize but kids should come first. If you are a parent considering Blochman as a choice you should speak to the locals and find out why so many of them transfer thier kids to Orcutt. I will say they did update thier playground. But many classrooms have leaking ceilings. If you have a special needs child or a child who has trouble conforming to a traditional public school maybe this is the place for you. Just be willing to deal with the small town politics and drama.

This school is similar to a private school in the public school system. Class sizes are small, teachers are very involved and there are unique programs you cannot find in a larger school.

I am a new Blochman parent and have been more than thrilled with my experience so far. The principal as well as the rest of the faculty are above and beyond fantastic. We are currently under way to start up a PTA and have been very pleased by the level of support we have so far from parents as well as faculty and community members. The focus of community service is great and I have been so pleased that my son gets to interact everyday with kids from kindergarten to eighth grade as well as a special education class. My child has the opportunity to interact and build relationships with the severely handicapped students which teaches him empathy and show him that those kids really are just like him in many ways. This has truly been an enriching experience for both my child and myself.
