While far from perfect, I had three children attend and graduate from Santa Maria High School. They all got a good education and had a good experience getting it. There are good educators and a supportive administration. We stayed involved with our children's education. For those of you nay sayers, I'd like to know what you have done to improve the school?
With the highest pregnancy rate in CA, and cholos lined up and down the block it makes it hard to believe this is such an awesome school. The years and children have definitely changed.
These sparkling reviews are jokes, obviously from biased teachers or administrators, or quite literally just jokes. Santa Maria High School is trash and everyone on the Central Coast knows it. Over crowded, rife with gangs, ludicrously high teen birth rate, and half the students don't even speak English. A terrible, terrible environment for young adults, as well as teachers how have become jaded by years of working there.
Best school ever. has great teachers & students. It's a spirited school.(=
This school is awsome. There is no better school than this one. Indeed we did have not two but three students last year win the Gates Scholars and two win the Dells Scholars as well. College acceptances went up from the previous year and many of which were accepted to very well known schools such as Harvard, Columbia, UCLA,UC Berkely, UCSD, and many many more. The school has great extra curicular activites such as, the award winning FFA (Future Farmers of America), a first place champion Ballet Flocoriko, CIF soccer team and many more activites and clubs to choose from. I attended Santa Maria High School all four years of high school and it is truly a great school. Thanks to the wonderful teachers and support I found there I was able to get to college and am currently working on getting my BS. Thanks SMHS!!
I would like to say that this school is a wonderful environment for students, parents and teachers. We have excellent clubs, an award winning agriculture department, a thriving music program and a well established AVID program. The students are respectful, hard working and academic achievers. Last year we had two Gates Scholars and the previous year our valedictorian was the recipient of a full scholarship to Brown University. These are just a few stories about our fantastic students. I encourage parents and prospective students to visit the school and talk with teachers, administration and fellow students. Santa Maria High School is a wonderful school with wonderful students and staff.
I would not recommend this school. If you want an honest opinion? Ask some of the locals who has lived here (if possible). Other than that all you get are the opinions that are posted here..
Awesome school, great students and teachers. I've been to pioneer valley school and this one, and if compared I would say this one is the best.
Absolutely horrible! Not a good environment for kids/parents. The leadership is a joke. If you value your child's education, do NOT send them to this school.
this is a great school! =]
