In response to the parent who thinks the office staff is incompetent: The school keeps parents informed through many means including a weekly newsletter, automated phone calls to households, calendars distributed all through the year, an updated website, as well as a marquee in front of the school with information. All of these are delivered in English and Spanish. How could you NOT know what is happening? The office staff is hardworking and polite. It is not their responsibility to personally deliver messages that you have missed.

Some of the office staff is incompitent. On many occasions they have failed to deliver messages about changes in after school plans, resulting in my kids alone, locked out of our hose in the rain for hours. Teachers are A+, and principal (Karen Arter) is friendly. Office staff need to shape up or be replaced.

The academic programs are of the highest quality. The teachers are monitored by peers who have special training in state programs and meet with trainers on a state-wide and district-wide basis. Teachers regularly monitor students to check how well students meet state standards in reading, writing and math. Individual students who struggle are given extra help, individualized, according to their needs. Great sports, music and arts programs and participation. Many student interest-based clubs for gardening, knitting, extra-curricular reading, and folk dancing. Incredible, free, after-school program that includes computer instruction, art, tutoring, sports, and homework help. Great school band, strings group and chorus with exposure to wide array of music styles and types. Energetic, creative staff.

I just want to say that this school turned my child around. In other schools he wasn't doing good at all. He went from almost all U's to almost all E's when I enrolled him here. Great parent-student relationship. There's alot of respect.
