Well it has been 5 years since that awesome Kindergarten class. In hine-sight, the early grade teachers have been okay, It helped being able to participate in classroom. was able to see when my son was beginning to slip through the cracks(reg: reading). When the class sizes get bigger in 4/5, Im am still undecided on the quality of teaching. Not the teachers, more like disruptive-ness. wheather or not the teachers can perform at hi quality levels due to student behaviors.
I love this school so much!! It is an awesome school and the teachers are so nice!!
My child has attended this school for 5 years and I have loved every moment of it! We have had excellent teachers and administration is extremely responsive and readily available to any request I make.
To many kids in one classromm.
The curriculum is hard for kindergarteners and 1st graders. You need to have at least 1 hr every evening to dedicate to homework + another hour for spelling & reading books. We have had two teachers so far & both teachers seemed overwhelmed by the children & the curriculum they had to teach. This schools primary concerns are attendance & testing, both issues that generate money to the school. Teachers & administrative will talk down to you and are aloof.
I have not liked this school from the satrt, when I started receiving letters and school personnel appeared pounding on my front door, because my child had one tardy! I can appreciate the fact that attendance is crucial to a child's success in school, but my second grader hasn't been exposed to the academics that are important for her age level; besides their ridiculous attendance procedures, the cirriculum at Prospect Avenue School leaves alot to be desired.
I believe that Prospect Elementary has alot to offer the community, in respect to having pre-school, middle grades and pre-teens at the same school. West Hills High School is one of the top schools in the county. The Teachers are very attentive to the students and they pay alot of attention to special efforts that the kids do every month. Prospect is a great school. I am a member of the PTA and love the activities they plan for the kids every month.
I do not care for this school and I am sorry that I enrolled my kindergartner here. I do not believe their curriculum to be in the best interest of kindergartners. I have emailed school board members asking for help and advice and have not gotten any response back. I am an involved parent and volunteer in the classroom and I am not impressed.
