Our child is in 5th Grade currently, has an amazing teacher, loves the program, and has made great friends. We love the community, the arts emphasis (amazing music teacher!), opportunity for leadership development through PLAYWORKS, and the ongoing collaboration of administration and parents to constantly improve. The campus is beautiful! If we were to ask for anything it would be to expand foreign language instruction through middle school, and grow the tech program which I know is currently being evaluated. School is placing strong emphasis on Middle School through parent/school taskforce to ensure the best experience for the kids and most of all that they are ready to hit the ground running in highschool.

Willow Creek Academy is a uniquely wonderful school. The parent community is involved and welcoming. The student body is diverse in many, many ways -- this is increasingly difficult to find, especially in Marin. The curriculum is project-based and not limited to rote learning or preparation for tests. My daughter happily heads off to school every morning. The school is continually transforming and becoming better, thanks to leadership that encourages parents to make our ideas become reality.

WCA is a vibrant, devoted and passionate educational facility at every level and in every facet. The staff, the parents, the children and the administration. I can think of no other school, public or private, that I would rather be a part of.

Willow Creek Academy is an excellent school. My son is in his 2nd year there (in 2nd grade) and is thriving both educationally and emotionally. The atmosphere at the school is great and I love being able to be involved in my son's classroom. The project-based learning is a plus for us and the school is in an exciting growth time.

My school is Willow Creek Academy in Sausalito. My child is in first grade and she loves her school very much. She's excited to go and is disappointed when she has to miss a day! But in full disclosure she does not like her Spanish class:) I as a parent of course love that she has Spanish so young! I love the parent involvement and the accessibility of the administration. Overall I think WCA is an excellent school and look forward to watching my child flourish.

Willow Creek has been wonderful - our son had an awesome Kindergarten experience and is continuing that in 1st grade. The school is ever evolving which keeps it interesting and current. It is so amazing to have this public school option in Sausalito. Thank you WCA founders, administrators, staff, and parents!

Willow Creek is an amazing place and should be ranked a 10. What you find here is community. Kids are academically challenged while learning to be involved and engaged. The school keeps getting better too. We've been a part of the school for 5 years and our kids are thriving.

Our family feels very fortunate to have a school like Willow Creek Academy in our backyard. This K-8 school is lead by great administrators and supported by a group of outstanding teachers who really advocate for the students. Add a powerhouse community of caring parents and you have one of the best, well rounded schools in Marin. Check WCA out if you are interested in helping your child become a caring, intelligent global citizen-this school is making all of these things a priority.

Willow Creek Academy is a spectacular school for many reasons. I find the teachers and staff to be highly engaged and proactive when it comes to providing an academic curriculum that challenges and excites students at all levels. The Willow Creek Foundation contributes greatly to the budget to ensure the Arts and PE are not cut. While parent involvement is most evident in K-3 grades, there is an effort underway to re-engage parents in the middle-school grades. It is hands-down the most diverse school in Marin. The new head of school is not only listening to parents, teachers and the community, he's taking action to improve and course correct what's not working. Overall, I'm ever-so grateful that WCA is my daughter's K-8 school.

My child is thriving at Willow Creek. The teachers are using current methods of teaching reading and math, making it fun to learn. The diverse group of students are well-behaved and respectful. The school sets clear expectations on behavior. The new head of school is kind, intelligent, and energetic. He is helping create more order and sense of school community as the school has grown significantly in the past few years.

Amazing! My daughter has bloomed at it. From learning how to start her own business to restoring the creek and filming a documentary about it all of this in just third grade!!! The school has amazing teachers, a new principal and a great campus with bay views.

Don't be fooled. Charter members and administration lack basic management skills. Teachers and parents work very hard. Unfortunately the administration is very lacking in their role. Should be a 5 star atmosphere, but has very little chance of making it.

WCA follows the guiding principals of the Responsive Classroom approach. Sharing these principals should help illustrate why we believe WCA will turn out future citizens who will be confident and prepared to succeed in a world where modern societies are highly interconnected, intercultural and heterogeneous. 1. The social curriculum is as important as the academic curriculum. 2. How children learn is as important as what they learn: Process and content go hand in hand. 3. Much cognitive growth occurs through social interaction. 4. To be successful academically and socially, children need a set of social skills: cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control. 5. Knowing the children we teach - individually, culturally, and developmentally - is as important as knowing the content we teach. 6. Knowing the families of the children we teach and working with them as partners is essential to children s education. 7. How the adults at school work together is as important as their individual competence: Lasting change begins with the adult community. We are very pleased with this approach and believe our children excel in this environment.

Willow Creek offers my children a great education, both inside and outside the classroom. The teachers are passionate about making sure kids establish a solid educational foundation and learn to love learning. Students also learn from each other, benefiting from one of the most diverse student bodies you will ever see. Outside the class, students go on numerous field trips to museums, nature preserves, organic farms, and other interesting places directly related to the core educational themes for that year. Finally, I think we are building a special community that positively impacts the Sausalito/Marin City overall by attracting and keeping families that would have moved elsewhere in the past. There are still things to improve, like managing the growth over the last few years, but Willow Creek is well on its way to being one of the best in Marin.

WCA is a wonderful learning environment for children and a long overdue community asset for Sausalito and Marin City. It is inclusive and welcoming learning for all students, but like any school, the teachers and staff can only do so much to educate and prepare students for life. Parents are the key ingredient and this is what sets WCA apart. By its charter, it strives to include parents and community via involvement and volunteer time in the educational process. This helps make parents more involved and accountable for their child's academic progress and social growth.

Willow Creek Academy is not just a great school but a fantastic learning community that puts kids first. Thanks to a dedicated and talented staff, my two children have been thriving academically and socially. They love going to school -- it feels like home to them. Most importantly, the school has fostered a love of learning that drives them even outside the classroom. Ama.zingly, as the school grows, it just keeps getting better!

Willow Creek does okay with the lower grades but dont care at all about the upper grades. The teachers are rude to students and they don't learn very much. Many kids who graduated dont do very well in highschool.

My daughters began school at Willow Creek last year and the teachers, Head of School and the academic program far exceeded my expectations, and were comparable, if not better, than the Marin private school from which we transferred. Communication about my childrens' progress and activities was constant and the artwork and other projects that came home were imaginative and thoughtful. In addition, the parents I've met are warm and friendly, and truly care about the school, which is shown by the significant amounts of time they devote to the school (voluntarily), despite their full time jobs and other committments. We are thrilled to have such a wonderful (free) K-8 school in Sausalito and look forward to many amazing years to come!

My son started going to this school in the Kindergarten and I felt like he was in a very strict boot camp. Then the next year when he was in the 1st grade the teacher was even more stricter my son know longer liked school or his teacher, because he said she didn't like him and she was to mean. Also, they need a better playground and more outside activities for the kids to play with, computers for 1st graders, school bus for trips, and a cafeteria to eat their lunches instead of them eating lunchesin their classroom or outside on dirty benches.

This school is Marin County's hidden gem ... a wonderful, warm, inclusive community, a beautiful campus and garden, terrific 'learning inside and out' programs, a new Spanish language program, arts and music interwoven with the core curriculum and -- unlike most Marin County schools -- incredible diversity. I moved to Sausalito because of this school and the people who are running it and the school keeps exceeding my expectations.

My son just started Kindergarten here. We are very pleased with the school, and the teacher. Super involved parents, great resources and a free after school program with sports academy and ambitious art programs. Also has a very active garden group and focus on environment and organic issues.

Willow Creek provides an outstanding education for my son. The teaching staff is talented, committed, and energetic. Each year he has been presented with challenging and interesting lessons; even the weakest teacher my son has had (and she's no longer there!) was very good. The school has extra-curricular activities such as an incredible music teacher, quality PE coach, and environmental education. The student body is diverse--ethnically, racially, and socio-economically. I value the fact my son's friends run the gamut of backgrounds and upbringings.
