Dixie Canyon just received Honorable Mention for PTA of the year from PTO Magazine. The school has powerful teachers who care. The parent involvement and commitment is off the hook. We raised a school straight up!!!
The teachers and administration are top-notch, the parents are passionately involved, and the generous surrounding businesses come together to provide a sense of community and great enrichment programs for our children such as art, drama, music and computer. The new science lab is amazing and the students are excited!
We have some amazing educators in our school including, valuable programs like a science lab, visual arts, dramatic arts and an awesome community of parent volunteers!
Great teachers, GREAT parent involvement, excellent after-school and enrichment programs.
The staff at our school is top notch. The teachers are the most caring and concerned about our child and all students. The education expectations are exceeded with concern to achieve. Our PTA is hands on with up to date information, which is a relief for all parents. The ensure a safe environment. The after school programs are excellent. Our son is involved in many activities and has always had a great experience.
The most amazing families - parents and students. A warm and caring community. Everyone at Dixie Canyon is devoted to doing what is best for our students. The school offers an outstanding academic program and outstanding enrichment programs.
I love the caring and supportive teachers and staff. I love how I can approach my child's teacher about anything going on in the classroom and I get an honest, straightforward response. I love the fact that my child gets a well rounded education because the PTA has ensured that the arts are still taught at school.
My daughter loves going to school and wonders why there is no school on the weekends.
This is a really great school. My little one loves it and the teachers and faculty love this school as well...It is like one big family!
Dixie is a school which has an unusual degree of parental involvement. That, together with a close relationship between teachers and parents, produces a family-like atmosphere of productivity and fun. You don't find that in many schools.
I was hyped about this school. But on an administrative level, it's not showing itself as anything special. It's quite the opposite. If it wasn't for the parents involvement and money, as people have mentioned below, this school would be a one- star rated school in a five-star rated area.
Love the PTA and events that the school has for the children. Drama Sue and the Art & Computer teachers make the school a great place for my girl to start her first year. It is sad that the parents have to help LAUSD with buying supplies, I would like to know where the money is going if not to the students supplies at least. It would be nice if the teachers had some real help in the classrooms. The office staff could use some excitement in their attitudes. If it were not for the extras Dixie offers I would not have been too happy.
Incredible teachers and a very strong supportive PTA. Just a fabulous school.
Dixie Canyon allows far too many students to attend who do not live within the Dixie Canyon Elementary district. The last two years our child attended Dixie her classroom was OVERCROWDED with one teacher and no teacher s aide. The Dixie staff needs to conduct an audit at the beginning of the year to confirm CURRENT parent addresses and also limit the amount of vouchers given out. Why did I pay $300k over what we should have for our home because it is in the Dixie district if students who live 10 miles away can attend?
The Dixie Dolphins are riding the wave crest of the fabulous principal who was cultured in her craft first as a teacher, then a fabulous math coach and now a principal. Principal Moche rules with an iron first of equity first, while wearing a glove made of velvet and chamois. What a delight the school is.
Dixie is really coming together again under the fantastic leadership of our new principal, Lea Moche. Finally, strong parents, great teachers, and logical administration have found a working relationship to get things done and watch students blossom!
I have not heard anything good about the new principal and I would not recommend this school. A lot of politics here that prevent true learning from happening.
