Good math and english department. Science department improving with addition of new science building. Award winning, recognized band and good art department. Excellent foreign langauge and religion departments. Parents active in sports, organizations, fundraisers. Clubs ranging from Hacky Sack Club to Amnesty International to Environmental Club. NHS, CSF and Spanish honors Society available. Can take Japanese, latin, french, and spanish as a foreign language.
This is definantly a sports school, and I know it may sounds naive to say this, but the focus and special attention the administration gives to the students is absurd.
This is an outstanding curriculum for the college bound student. The teachers are exceptional. Also the students treat each other with respect and honor and they are encouraged to participate to give them a more full experience.
School over emphasizes sports program to detriment of academic standards. Very social enviornment--which seems to favor those students involved in athletics. Many extracurriucular opportunities. Academic rigor is lacking. For a relatively moderately sized school, students can get lost. Not very progressive. Rules and protocols may cause some students to feel their individuality is being compromised. Many teachers seem to shirk their responsibilities as it pertains to maintaining office hours. School is also overly focused on fundraising. Lots of hidden costs beyond basic tuition. For some it can be a very good school, but many students seem to express less enthusiasm for the school and its teachers.
excellent academic programs with additional peer tutoring. Excellent sports programs for boys as well as girls with a big emphasise on football. The arts are exceelent with an amazing theatre and music department. The staff is helpfull and available for parents.
An excellent school, one of the best in Los Angeles. The two top Catholic schools in L.A. are Notre Dame and Loyola. Having done extensive research, I would give Notre Dame the edge.
Excellent school-one of the most prestigious schools in the nation. Can't ask for more.
Notre Dame has a beautiful campus with young teachers who the kids can relate to. They are high energy and very hip with fabulous credentials. The peer pressure is tough though. Their counseling department is fabulous as well as the college prep. I have a senior daughter and a freshman son.
If your child likes to get involved with great extracuricular activities this is the school. Great school spirit, fun involved faculty. If your child is self motivated to get into the ap classes this is a great College prep school.
My daughter is currently enrolled at Notre Dame as a sophomore and she is thriving. I couldn't be happier with the administration and staff. They are a caring, loving group who seem to truly have the student's best interest at heart. After coming from a less-than-stellar private middle school environment, ND's level of caring and education shines. Academically, ND is excellent and the athletic prestige of this school is outstanding and speaks for itself. I would highly recommend this school to any parent, especially if your child is athletically inclined. ND can be highly social as well. If your teenager is outgoing, he/she will find the extracurricular activities and spirit of this school very rewarding.
What can I say? My kids had a fun time, were challenged by the curriculum, made lots of friends and were accepted by the very best colleges/universities in America. And judging by their recent college grades, ND prepared them very well for the ultra-competitive, top-ranked colleges they now attend. The honors and ap classes are a standout, along with the dedicated teachers.
