I have had children at this school for several years now. I feel that there are a wide variety of teachers, so it is possible for children and teachers to be matched up adequately. We have been happy with most of our teachers, and have made an effort to be involved, so that our children have the best teacher available to them. The PTA does a lot for the school, but it is run by a pretty small group of parents. Would be nice to see more support and involvement in this area. The biggest problem Knolls has right now, is leadership. Dr. Porter has done many positive things for the school, such as overseeing a consistent rise in API scores, finding grant money and coordinating support to start art and music programs etc. However, she lacks the aptitude to deal with disciplinary issues and conflict. There are many parents who feel issues go unresolved. She is well liked by the children, but does not have respect or support from the teachers and parents. In my opinion, we are seeing a real decline in behavior at Knolls due to her lack of action in this area.
This is a fantastic school. I know of many students who commute from other parts of town to go here (my kids included). I've never seen a principal who was better liked by the students than Dr. Porter and the teachers are great too.
Overall this is a good school. Other than a problem with my son's first grad teacher we have had a wonderful experience. The Principal is very responsive and the PTA is very active. The ASC and other enrichment activies are great. The only reason why I don't give Knolls 5 stars is due to the very poor 1st grade teacher that is no longer at the school.
Knolls is a wonderful school with a great PTA. It also has many involved parents. It has a terrific small community feeling, and everybody knows everyone. I have been lucky to make new friends along with my child. I am so lucky to be at Knolls.
I love this school. There are so many excellent teachers. My child had Mrs Tamac and Mrs. Landy. They both were caring and taught my son so much. I am proud to be a Knolls parent.
Knolls is a great school. Mrs. Wolfson is excellent!
My daughter started this year in the 4th grade. Its hard for a child to switch schools after being at a school for so long, but they made the transition so easy and so welcoming not just for my child but for us as parents too. This school cares so much about the students than any other school I know...
I think that the teachers do a great job with the kids and I am very satisfied parent my son has been their for two years and has continued to excel!
I think the staff here is rude I have to agree that the teachers are still either green or need to retire. Nothing has changed.
Excellent core of teachers. There could be so much more enrichment for the children. We need art, music, dance, and more hands on science. A clean, safe campus with the opportunity for the new principal to make a significant impact and improvement(s).
