Royal used to be a very good public high school, but over the last few years their academic and music programs have declined. While my son had several very good AP and Honors teachers, there were others that seemed to care little for the students. The music programs has taken a downturn, due to a young and inexperienced music director. The students seem to really like her, but she is lacking in teaching the real fundamentals of music.

My son had a positive high school experience, due to the wonderful teachers and programs they offer, now my daughter is going there and i hope she finds Royal just as wonderful!

This school is great! My son is in A.P. and Honors classes, and all of his teachers really care about their students. Many of his teachers come early or stay late to help students who are struggling. Their Band department is fantastic! My son is in several band groups, and Mrs. Pate is fantastic at teaching and motivating her students! Go Highlanders!

Royal is a great school. I have two children attending Royal. Both are in AP classes. The teachers are really preparing them for college. If you're willing to put the work in the teachers are there to help. The sports programs are wonderful too.

Royal High school AP classes really prepare student for academic success in college. If students' are willing to put time in classes the rewards are long-lasting. Have had two children graduate from Royal and both were prepared for out of state colleges.

Great school. I graduated in 2005 and it was my launching to new beginnings. The ESL department is amazingly overrated. Sports are very well handled too. The Highlanders have defeated SVHS several times in football.

I can't stand the school. It is very dirty. The staff does'nt to much to help the students when the students have problems with others at the school. I am trying to get transfered out right now. I hate it there.

This school had an API increase of 40 points last year... Royal has a very supportive staff and teachers who earnestly care about student success! Mr. Houghton is a wonderful principal!

Great school! But lately theres been alot of racial related school fighting white power & brown power. These are just crazy teens going throught a phase with the so called 'in' crowd.
