Having worked at Santa Susana Elementary as a substitute teacher for over three years, as well as a student teacher for sixteen weeks, I've had the pleasure of working alongside the wonderful staff and students, and have had quite an enjoyable experience thus far. The staff is comprised of well educated, experienced, enthusiatic educators who constantly strive to meet the needs of all their students. The principal is extremely hands-on and quite invested in the interests and needs of the students, staff, and the community. Unfortunately, due to the 'Title One' position of the school, their isn't a lot of funds to provide the students with music, art, sports, or other extracurricular activities in comparison to other schools in SVUSD. That being said, Santa Susana does offer outdoor school to fifth/sixth graders (which I briefly attended- it's fabulous),the opportunity to perform in school plays, and participation in the junior olympics.
