I love Adele, it is a really good school and all the people who don't like have there own opinions but I have been at this school and there are NOT that many problems with the school at all! Nyways I like this school and am happy with it so whatever. :)
We have the benefit of hindsight, after having two children go to AHMS (one in the multiage program, one in the regular tract). Our kids both had 4.0 GPAs throughout their years here. We pulled our daughter midway through AHMS as we began to better understand our mistake. Once you leave the bubble of the Sonoma Valley public school system, you realize that all GPAs aren't created equal. I could go on all day about what the problems are, but to summarize here: - terrible language arts instruction - little or no art, music, or drama - no foreign language instruction A typical AHMS child will not be prepared to face high school outside the Sonoma bubble relative to their peers in many other school districts. If you plan on sending your child to high school elsewhere in Sonoma County, or to Marin or Napa, be forewarned. You'll be fine at SVHS :(
Adele Harrison joins with the community to give the kids what they need when monies for education have dwindled and they do a great job. The teachers are caring, creative, bright and connected to the children. The school, the parents, the community all work hard to give the children a wonderful education.
Wonderful and beautiful school!!!!
AHMS horrible school if you are thinking about sending your kid here don't! The teachers are under qualified and unorganized. It is much like a elementary school in which you never have to study for anything and teachers are easily won over about homework not being turned in. This school will prepare your son/daughter for high school in no way. In my opinion you would be way better off sending your child to Presentation or St. Francis. If money is a problem the scholar ships are in abundance, don't be shy on asking for one.
The Multi-age Program at AHMS is the absolute best. It is project based learning and the presentations the students give every five weeks is amazing! These students are focused and confident because of the 3 teachers at the center of this program: Mr. Green, Ms. Eschelman, & Ms. Gearhart.
I love this school and my daughter loves it! There is only one teacher that gives her a hard time but otherwise it is a great school!
AHMS is a dream-come-true school where staff are bright caring individuals and the students are successfully transitioned from the safe confines of elementary school into the rigors and challenges of middle school. These challenges in turn prepare the students of AHMS for success in high school and beyond. The 'jewel' of the school, as it were, is the Multi-age Program whose core of three teachers offer an advanced, project-based approach to the standard curriculum over the course of the three years in which students attend the middle school while simultaneously maintaining that close, personal style of teacher support of learning that we associate with the elementary grades.
Very well organized school. My son is happly and well ajusted. Teachers care for the well being of the students. I highly recomended this school as one of the best public middle schools in the district.
