Profile Completeness

ADVANCED

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Our kids are excited to go to school every day. They are 6 and 9 so the real work of school has begun for them. The school fosters a love of learning and pure fascination that is rapidly disappearing in our digital age. The 2 year kindergarten program was daunting initially but has proved perfect for our children. Being the older child in the second year of kindergarten allows for even the smallest kindergarteners to be mentors to the younger kindergarteners. My husband and I are very involved in the school and have been from the first year that our child attended the school. This involvement allows us to be leaders in guiding the development of the school and of the culture of Woodland Star. The bottom line is that at 9 years old my child is able to read in two languages and feels confident to the point where she thinks testing is fun, plus there is a smile on my children's faces on their way to school in the morning.

High academics taught with an integrated curriculum that uses art, music, and the environment to inspire students. It uses the Waldorf methods of education with inspires not only students but families also. It is open to all people from all backgrounds and has a welcoming environment. It uses the developmental approach to educating a child. My child graduated from this school from 8th grade and is now taking honors classes as well as high level foreign language, is very adept at music & computers. I have seen this system work first hand. I highly recommend this school for all children and families.

I do not consider this school to be an 'academic' based institution. Although the learning experience is varied, the curriculum is dated, slightly skewed, and not practical, nor realistic for the times in which we live. The school environment tends to foster emotional/mental underdevelopment in it's students, as well as a fear of media based content in a general sense (TV, non-Waldorf approved reading materials, internet and computer based technology, so on). If I were to recommend this school at all, I would hesitantly recommend this school to any parent within the district who has a special needs child, or a child with autism-spectrum disorders. I base that recommendation solely on the fact that this school progresses at a much slower, less demanding pace than other 'typical' schools.
