Hollydale School is no different than any school in the PUSD. I have tutored a student here for 4 years. We started when he was in 4th grade. He could not do 1st/2nd grade work. Today, in 8th grade, his teachers (other than Algebra I) don't care about education, they care about how they can get by. They give students answers the quiz//test just before the test so they do well, but they don't know the material. They don't get homework in Science or History, EVER!! Hardly homework in Language Arts. PUSD has always been this way. I grew up in neighboring city and had friends go through the PUSD. Don't be fooled in their "scoring and grading). My student gets "B's" in both Science and History, yet when I go over some of his classwork that he brings home, he is clueless as to the material. If you care about your childs education, keep them away from PUSD!

This is completely awesome!Very good school and the lunches here are delicious.The activities are pretty good too.And the teachers help the kids a lot.The parent involvement is just fine.Just completely wonderful.

Hollydale is a good school and can only get better with continued parent involvement. The educators are good and again as parents we need to be involved in our childrens academic success and challenges.

Well im a seventh grader at this school, and i think this school is the best. Take it from me (i am in the gifted in talented classes) this place is perfect for your child. Yeah, i know what your thinking, im just a little girl that goes to this school what does she know? Actually since i come to this school i think i have a pretty good idea. Well go Hornets!

i go 2 this skool. it will b my last year and i hope 8th grade will b a blast but i wont noe till then. im also excited cuz in theyear 2009 -2010 great changes will happen such as electives and p.e. everyday. if u want ur child 2 suced, hollydale is the place. p.s. i am in the g.a.t.e class (gifted and talented education) witch is the smartest class of all. go hornets!!

I total don't agree,approve or like the way base there grading. I have 3 boys attend this school. In general the school is a well mantain nice looking place. Hollydales teachers and principals can't complain some are there to teach,others are just there.

My son is in the middle school. He is learning alot from Mrs. Montemayor and likes reading now. Mr. Wulkowitz is a great teacher to. All the teachers are very friendly and help the parents to.

I feel that this school has great academic programs and let's students express their ideas about learning made easy. I really love this school my child has learned alot here. The teachers are exceptional.

Teachers only pay attention to the top 1 or 2 students in class. Average students get left behind without much attention. Children come out of there not being able to articulate words up to standards. If you don't want your child to amount to much, this is the school!

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled.
