My son just started Kindergarten here. After years of wondering about how well he would do when entering this school, I am finally at ease. He loves his class, classroom and most of all his Teacher Mrs. Brixey. He has come home everyday with smiles teaching us his class 'cheers'. Even though school just started two weeks ago, my son seems to be excelling much more so than with Pre-School. So far, I love the neat things the children are taught and how they are being taught. Pico Canyon has great school spirit and great parent involvement. These are all reasons why I think Pico Canyon is a great school!

My son transferred to Pico Canyon from a very small older LAUSD school in the SFV. I honestly believe that newer and bigger is not better in the case of this school. Yes, the school is beautiful as are the surroundings, but the ratio of teachers without children of their own which would benefit them in relating to their students is lacking. It also seems that the lack of diversity with regards to students that come from many different economic situations gives the school an elitist and somewhat cold feeling.

The teachers are awesome. (great teachers!) They work with each student and put them in groups and let them work at their own pace. No pressure.... only an environment that encourages each child to thrive. A great school. Great parent involvement too! I'm proud to have my son attend Pico Canyon.

Ever since Pico opened its doors it has been doing an outstanding job of working within a system that is very convoluted. The teachers are fantastic and encourage parental involvement which is outstanding. The community is wonderful but the school surroundings are poor. There's an attached park with no security and it borders a highway with allowable speeds of up to 50mph. The school is surrounded by streets and condos and houses, close to the fwy. The attached park has drainage issues because it was built in a flood plain. If you don't mind the poor amenities and security issues, it's a very good school.

This is an excellent school that really focuses on exceeding State academic standards and preparing students for higher grade level work. The school setting is in a wonderful, close-knit, family-oriented suburban area. The principal knows parents by name and all teachers are friendly, well-educated and seriously committed to developing and challenging the students. I am fortunate to live in area with such an amazing school!

School is new and already too crowded to include neighborhood children. We live right by this school in a million dollar home and will have to go to a school across the freeway because it's overcrowded.

This is a new school with bad food, no security, no computers that can be used by the students, a library with next to no books, a school yard that is far too small and the school fronts on a major highway. The teachers are good and the students come from homes that are well to do but both are hampered by a school board and a county supervisor that continually sell out the interests of both the teachers and students by allowing an out-of-state developer to underfund the schools in this rapidly growing community.
