Teacher absenteeism has been significant for both of my children this year. This is very disruptive to the students' learning since many different substitute teacherhave been used. Given that the majority of the absences were planned, the school could and should have made arrangements for just one or two substitutes to cover the absences - this would have ensured better continuity and more consistent learning.
This school clearly does not really care about the kids as individuals. The kids are only there to be treated as sheep and prepped for state testing.
This school was awarded the 2008 Blue Ribbon Award thanks to the principal Mrs. Diane von Buelow!
My child's teacher is excellent. I wish the kids had more art/drama activities.
I had three of my kids attend this school. They all had excellent and talented teachers. My youngest child still attends the school and I am very happy with her 3rd grade teacher.
Teachers are great but the new principal lost her cool during a talent show meeting in the presence of parents. Very unprofessional!
This school maybe physically small for the community, but the principal and the staff has done a great job to accommodate most in a fair manner. Students within a classroom maybe in a different levels intellectually and they have programs for the teacher to be flexible. School activities are balanced with after school programs.
I currently have two children that attend this school, one of which has a learning disability. I am extemely impressed with the school's willingness to work together as a team in seeing that his educational and academic needs are met. They both love going to school and that to me says a great deal. The art program is made up of volunteers and is incredible. Both children are reading at a grade level above their current grade. They also offer music, and their PTA runs a tight ship. Very pleased.
I have nothing but great words to say about our teaching staff at SRE. I feel very blessed to really love the 8 teachers(K-4) my kids have had regular interaction with. I have the highest regard to our Principal, who has great integrity and intention for our kids, the staff, the school programs, and SRE's future. I do think the PTA has some serious/leadership issues to work thru, but I have hope for a more supportive and less political 06-07 school year.
Stevenson Ranch Elementry is over crowded , but the scores of this school have been going up every year.
Stevenson Ranch Elementary is an excellent school. My 2nd grade son has had a really good experience last year and has shown great progress in reading and writing. He had awesome 1st grade teachers (2 teachers were job-sharing). Some teachers tend to rely on a high level of parent involvement and volunteering and there was often some kind of fund-raising effort going on which was getting to be annoying after some point. My son's kindergarten experience could have been better because he had a tough time adjusting and I didn't receive much teacher contact other than the regular conference times, and his teacher was often absent, but now that teacher is no longer teaching there. My twin girls are in kindergarten this year and both their teachers are wonderful and nurturing and my girls have adjusted very well.
This school will provide the best education for your child/children. The teachers, parents and principal are dedicated to our childrens needs both personally and academically. This school has been awarded the Blue Ribbon award and two distinquished school awards. The teachers are knowledgeable and devoted to our students and contribute to this schools execllence and achievements. My child has had the best experiences here which will give him a positive outlook on education. I highly recommend this school for your child/children.
The teachers, Principal and her staff are just great. No need for private schooling with public schools like Stevenson Ranch. On site after-school through Sunshine make for a well-balanced day for your child(ren).
The school reflects the community of stevenson Ranch, but in the effort to maintain academic standards as shown by test scores, the focus can be myopic. The behaviors observed in students that are considered problematic are often not dealt with in the most constructive manner.
The teachers take every opportunity to show they care about our children.
