i think Don Riggio is an amazing school, however, the school district representatives are where my problems begin. Bonnie, the Secretary of the Superintendent is absolutley rude and condesending. I have never been treated or spoken to with such hostility by someone who says they put children first!

Both my Girls are flourishing at this School, in large part to the Teachers, Staff, and Parents. The dedication far exceeds my expectations. My oldest daughters Teacher, knows her strengths and weaknesses and knows how to engage her. She is a tough Teacher who expects the 'BEST' from and for her students, and encourages them. my youngest daughter is also in a class where her Teacher Loves every one of her students and expects their strengths to shine, and they do! The Staff knows every student by name, and addresses them with a hello (followed by their name). It may not seem big, but to these parents and students, it really means the world! The parents are very like minded at this School, we all have a common goal, and that is to build up every single child and Family at this school. If ever a tragedy strikes we come together to help support both monetarily; aswell as emotionally. the parents are eager to help in the class-rooms, and support the school as a whole. We have a strong, and dedicated PTSA. headed by the 'BEST' group of Parents and Teachers!

Don Riggio School staff is an amazing and dedicated group. They have worked so hard that our scores increased by 30 points!!!! Incredible!! We have a very active PTSA that works hard to support the staff and students. I like the family atmosphere at the school and I agree with the other parent who noted that we strongly support families in need.

Don Riggio is a fantastic community of learners, teachers, and support staff. The children are able to express themselves in any way they feel comfortable. Teachers keep their students for 2 years which allows students to have continuity of learning and teaching style. And our music program and performing arts work... ROCK!!!!

Don Riggio is a unique school with a very dedicated and creative staff. The community feeling can be felt from Kindergarten to 8th grade and I feel confident that the blend of academic curriculum and the Arts will help my children to be well-rounded individuals.

It appeared to me at first that this was such a great school to have my son attend; fun, safe, and a positive atmosphere. I just don t understand why the test scores show lower than that of Tully C. Knoles. I had my son attend 2nd grade during half of the semester do to work I had to move during the tax season to Fresno and well my son had a challenging time learning certain math problems he was not taught at Don Riggio. Could improve on parent or volunteer involvement.

Both my children attended Don Riggio, and both of them have had a negative experience with the teachers and students. I wish I would have done my research before sending my children there.

Both my children have attended Don Riggio since they were in kindergarten. My oldest is going into fourth grade this fall. My first comment is on the teachers. (I have been part of two other schools through my stepson, so I am not completely biased!) I can only comment on the teachers that I have had with my children, but I have never met more dedicated and enthusiastic teachers. Going over and above in doing more for the kids than is expected or asked, is so regular that I wonder if people with negative comments had experience with other schools to realize how much our teachers really do? I am equally pleased that my son has been challenged to expand his studies to the fifth grade level, and that my daughter is getting the extra help she needs to excel. Most importantly, my kids are excited about learning. Thank you!

What once was a school of choice has changed to one that caters to a select group. New administration has divided the parents and school in my opinion. Some teachers are wonderful! Unfortunately fairness and leadership is lacking.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
