Good opportunities for children. The teachers were decent with some exceptions, both positive and negative. Students are actively involved and positive. Much has changed since I have attended, but I would highly recommend looking into other schools as well before making your choice.

Bear Creek is a great school, if only the commuity would realize that. The students are fnatastic but keenly feel the resentment among the parents. Tha dismal support of school functions by the community has lead to many great opportunities and staff being lost. The perception that it is not a safe school and is failing our students is just not true. I have two graduates, a current student, and two more lookiing forward to their time at the Creek. I do spend time on campus and see the spirit that is there. Dedicated teachers and administration are not enough to make great school. Instead of fret get involved ans see just what the Creek can offer. If the school is failing (I disagree) it is because parnets allow it. Get involved. Go to a football game, help at a track meet, go to a talent show, hire the band, do whatever to let the school know you support them. The Creek will perform to expectation high or low.

As a student at BCHS I dont think I could fit in anywhere else! It is a great school and always has something new and exciting going on. THe staff and security are always friendly and students, yes at sometimes can cause trouble, are fairly nice. We all appreciate that we can come to school five days a week and be safe and learn. Not many people can say that about their school. I am pleased to tell people that I go to BCHS!

I am currently attending Bear Creek High School and i think it's great. There may have been some problems in the past but the school has improved. The sucurity staff members are doing an stupendous job. The teachers and addministration are kind but stern when necessary. I enjoy attending this school and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good high school to attend.

As a teacher at BCHS, I have to say that the school is very safe, and provides a wonderful learning environment. I simply would not work in a place in which my well being or the students around me were not safe. To the parent who wrote the nasty note about the Creek; it must simply be a very bad practical joke. Our academics are among the best in the valley, our extracurricular programs are more prolific than any other similar sized school, and our sports program...well, we're working on that :) Your children will truely be loved, nurtured, and given the tools to succeed in life at BCHS. I believe that Bear Creek is one of the best schools in the SJ county! I am a sophmore at Bear Creek and the campus is GREAT! There is ton of student involvement.

For all parents who made comments about bear creek being a ''bad'' school, i think those comments were made out of ignorance. Bear Creek is a great school, to make comments based on the wrong doings of only a small chunk of the bear creek student body is ridiculous. Any and every school has had its share of on campus fighting...big or small.My final comment is that you all make sure you have your facts straight before you talk down on a great school like BCHS.

Bear Creek isn't a bad school. Actually i know this for a fact. I am recently a Junior at Bear Creek High school and I've been attending since my freshmen year. The parent that first commented on BCHS about the recent fight on campus was not understanding. After that incident happened, Bear Creek is now enforcing a Zero Tolerance Policy. We are one of the many schools that is actually enforcing that policy. Starting the 2nd quarter, we are going to be limited on how many passes students get so they won't be missing classes. The principal is a great principal. He interacts with his studesnt and that also goes for the security guards. They don't just sit back and let the students fight. They got hurt from stopping the students from fighting. The administration took action! Yes there are many students that go to Bear Creek but that is a good thing. You are able to interact with such a huge diversity of people and you'll probably won't have that chance at any other schools in Stockton, California. Our academic program is a great one. We have AVID, speech/debate, Honors courses and A.P. courses. Matter of fact, last year (2002-2003) many students passed their A.P. exam then any other schools in Lodi Unified.

The recent melee attack has rendered the school a zone of violence and racial tension. To compensate for its horrible academic record, diverse student body, and constant strife, nothing can be done. This school is one of the worst schools to be built and that fact just keeps on being rekindled as the staff and security allows brawls such as the most recent one, to go without any change. I hope that you realize the grave danger students are put in each and every day they enter the school campus at Bear Creek High School.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
