Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I agree that some staff can be extremely unable to communicate with, but my child has been attending this school for over 3 years now and she very much enjoys it. Most teachers are easy communicate with, but should have more parent teacher conferences.

My child has been at Tyler for 3 years now. The only complaint I have is that the teachers need to communicate better with parents. Otherwise all three teacher my child has had have been awesome & very involved with my child.

Worst school that I have ever had my children in. Please don't put your kids in this school. The teachers are not tolerant of the children and the principal has no backbone

Our children have attended two elementary schools is SUSD ~ one a 'skills' school, and another a 'data' driven school. Neither compared to the level of personal attention and focus the teachers and staff at Tyler have dedicated our children. Both children and parents are treated as though they individually matter to the teachers and admin. - as opposed to feeling as though TEST SCORES and grades matter - but the needs of the individual student really were secondary to overall test scores. Tyler is far and away the best school we have particpated in - its an intentionally fostered warm, friendly environment where each CHILD and their educational needs matter to everyone.

I had a set of twins going there, the reachers are super! The principal is horrible when it comes to you having a problem, he tries to just get you to shut up about it rather than actually doing anything about it. He is very condescending especially if you are a woman. The parent involvement is almost non existent, NO PTA and only one or two other parent volunteers other than myself in both of my daughters classes. We have moved them to a magnet school.

We have 2 children that attended Tyler. We moved just so that our children could go to a better school. Our kindergartners teacher was nice and good. The principal of this school has no backbone. When there was a problem that we reported, he did nothing to try and help, although he said he would. We are altogether unhappy with the all around performance of the staff of this school.

Tyler would never have been my first choice, my son was in 2nd, and I never saw tests scores, or papers being sent home. Parental involvement is none, within 20 students in class 2 participated, me being one. If they allowed transfers I would have taken it in a heartbeat.
