i have my third child going through this school and all i can say is i thank god for the oppurtunityh for my children to be able to go through such an incredible school system right in my own town!!!
Brittan has an excellent administrative staff with an open door policy ready to address any concern that arise. The teachers are fantastic. In this day and age when budget cuts are being made throughout the state, the Brittan Administrators looked at all areas and made only cuts that had the least impact on the students. Some people think Brittan is now charging for bus service and that is completely untrue. Brittan still has sports programs for grades 7 and 8 as well as classroom music. Every teacher that was given a lay off notice was rehired and no class has a higher teacher to student ratio than in previous years. Brittan still continues to be one of the top schools in Sutter County.
Brittan has anunreasonable, irrational principal and their student to teacher ratio has risen dramatically because they eliminated many teaching positions. They have also cut several sports programs and began charging bus fees for other sports.
I came from a nearby town that is thought of as a rich area even snobby. However, the public schools promotes mediocrity and are compulsory at best. The shut out the parents almost completely. I interdistrict and drive my children a good distance everyday to Brittan. Brittan is significantly superior in many ways. The teaching staff is much more cohesive; the no tolerance policy really means no tolerance; favortism is minimal; administration participates in parents club projects; school spirit is strong; test scores are competitive for the area; but most important parents make a difference. Administration really does attempt to take parental suggestions and use them to better the school. I am a proud parent of a Brittan Bear and am happy to drive to interdistrict them every day!
Except for the unfortunate leadership, Brittan has some wonderful teachers and programs.
It has the best middle school drama program in the area. I could have taken my child to pretty much any school in the area, but chose to go to Brittan because it is an excellent school, and it has a very strong sense of community. The educational program is competitive with any school in the area.
